Claudia-the rebellion of the native family

After reading a lot of people's thoughts, many have dissatisfaction with Claudia, the dehumanization of this character's "desire", and "unscrupulous". However, I clearly saw a real growth process, a shadow integrated in each of us. Although this is not an important point of the film, every angle reflected in the film is still worth thinking about.

———————————————————

When Claudia realized that she would not grow up, she realized that everything she once had was the influence of the two people in front of her, she hated that she realized her own Rebelled; but in the end she chose to reconcile with Louis.

Perhaps, we can first consider Leister and Louis as a whole of the original family.

Every child is like Claudia, and when he comes to this world, he is fully dependent on his family, because they have no choice. When one day children discover that they are always the projection of their original family, when their independent personality is awakened, when they realize that their personality is always in the brand of the family, they choose to struggle and rebel. Is it something everyone will try? We are not willing to be constrained by traditional ideas, and we are not willing to endure the restrictions from our native families. What we are even more unwilling to do is that those self-proclaimed independent thoughts are still inseparable from the deep imprint. We rebel by challenging authority and by questioning the constraints imposed by the family.

However, this kind of rebellion is incomplete and unbearable. Because, long-term attachment and growth, the so-called family relationship, so many people, in the end, will choose to reconcile. Reconciling with family, reconciling with authority, reconciling with the state of this age, the most important and most helpless thing is to reconcile with oneself and one's own destiny.

Claudia is every child in the family who cannot grow up, struggling to challenge authority, and reluctantly choosing to reconcile. She carries the fetters and rebellion that belong to the family relationship, using vampires and the coat that cannot grow up to uncover the inner core of every family.

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles quotes

  • Louis: Bear me no ill will, my love, we are now even.

    Claudia: What do you mean?

Louis: What died in that room was not that woman. What has died is the last breath in me that was human.

Claudia: Yes, Father. At last we are even.

  • Claudia: Louis, what's happening to her?

Louis: She is dying. It happened to you, too, but you were too young to remember.
