The cripple heard the police say this, so he naturally wrote down according to the other party's meaning: Yes, he led the hijacking of the police car (taxi), and we have always followed Keaton...

In the end, the police said that as long as he was willing to retract his confession, he would be protected by the police. No matter how great Keaton was, he couldn't stop talking at the police station.
