The movie must be watched for three and a half hours of the ultimate edited version
'Who Watches The Watch Men?' This is a Latin idiom, which means "who will supervise the supervisors". "Watchmen" (Watchmen) specifically refers to the Watchmen in books and movies. Movies and comics raise several very profound questions from this point: Should rights be restricted? Who controls the rights? How to restrict rights? Speaking of movies, it is inevitable that the "Watchmen" comics have a status in literary history. As a full-length graphic novel, "The Watchmen" was rated as one of the 100 best English novels by Time Magazine, and it is also the only one in history that has won rain. The fruit award (the highest honor for science fiction) comics, its exquisite paintings and profound stories make it one of the best comics in DC (in my mind it is better than "Black Knight" and "V for Vendetta") " The story of "Watchmen" takes place in an overhead universe. In this universe, Nixon ordered Dr. Manhattan to join the war and allowed the United States to win the Vietnam War. The Watergate incident was not revealed because of Rorschach, and Nixon was re-elected as president for three consecutive terms. Superhero comics Decline, replaced by pirate cartoons; technology has developed rapidly because of the Manhattan doctor; the Cold War has not yet ended, the relationship between the US and the Soviet Union is deteriorating day by day, and nuclear war may break out at any time.
Let me talk about each character first (manga descriptions are more detailed, so most of them are based on the introduction of the manga)
Rorschach: Believe in moral despotism, anti-communist, anti-liberal, ethnicist, and extreme rightist, but Rorschach also has a unique personal charm. After the "Kean Act" (the law restricting masked righteous police) was promulgated Only Rorschach chose to continue fighting alone against evil
The second-generation night owl: chose to retire after the "Kean Act" was enacted, has a mine at home, and partnered with Rorschach
Second-generation Silk Soul: Trained as a hero by his mother, but unwilling to himself
Dr. Manhattan: Because of a mistake, I was locked in the eigenfield experiment cabin. The whole body of atoms was broken down by the particle collider, and then recombined. It can decompose or change the atoms of all objects at will, and can also predict the future. It is the only character with super powers among the watchmen. At the beginning, I wore a vest and shorts, and later I only wore briefs. Later, I didn’t wear anything at all. In the long run, human ethics and laws are meaningless to the dehumanized Ph.D.
Comedian/Laugher: He sees through the world and treats it as a joke. His apostasy is because he fully understands this absurd world and decides to integrate into it
Pharaoh: Extraordinarily wise, he decided to use his own plan to reunite the world after thinking about the destiny of mankind (all the hints from comics and movies show that he is gay)
The movie basically copied the plot of the comics, except for the Pharaoh’s "Forcibly Save Humans" plan, which was slightly different. The comics themselves are very good, indicating that the director Zach Schneider must also appreciate the original work very much.
As the uncrowned king of the comic film adaptation, Zha Dao made this movie version of Watchmen one of the best superhero movies. From the opening slow motion picture and the voice of Bob Dylan to explain the background of the story, the movie was established. The only flaw is that the rhythm is slow. It is not an entertainment movie. If you have a chance, you must watch the three-and-a-half-hour final edited version. After reading it, you will find yourself as if you have watched a superhero’s tragic epic.
