"Bohemian Rhapsody" may be a good tribute movie, but not necessarily a good movie.
The film started when Freddie and Mary met for the first time, and Freddie proposed to Brian and Roger that he wanted to join the orchestra, and then used a piece of orchestra song as a link to show the development of the entire orchestra and also the transformation of Freddie's emotional world. In terms of career, the film described a few fledgling boys who went from being full of enthusiasm to endure each other and parted ways, until Freddie, under Mary's advice, realized that Paul had only a negative influence on him, and decided to stay away from this person, only to find that he was already suffering. After falling into AIDS, I had to try to mend the relationship with the group members in the last days, and once again focus on music. In terms of relationship, Freddie fell in love with Mary at first sight, and soon developed to the stage of cohabitation and even marriage proposal. However, after Freddie became popular, he discovered his homosexuality and confessed to Mary, and then the two continued to maintain a friendly relationship. The two lines ended with the LIVE AID in 1985. Freddie’s group members did not care about the predecessors and completed this touching performance with him, while Mary watched the concert as a friend and gave Freddie spiritual support.
The film focuses on Freddie, carefully reviewing his career and emotional development, and trying to restore the details. Especially the Live AID at the end. The whole performance of about 20 minutes can be said to be a godly restoration, as small as the clothes and decorations (may not be said to be "small", the pair of sneakers on Rami Malek’s feet is said to be It was specially reproduced by Adidas), the singer's gestures, every minute and every second, are almost the same as before. From this paragraph alone, we can see the careful production and the mentality of wanting to pay tribute to the band. This kind of intention is naturally worthy of appreciation. For fans of the orchestra, seeing everything about the orchestra relive in front of them, it should be full of moving. For audiences who don't know the orchestra well, they also get a chance to get to know the orchestra. The goal of paying tribute was achieved, but the success is also Xiao He, and the failure is also Xiao He, which has become the biggest flaw of the movie.
The movie is very focused on "restoring" the reality of Queen, and specially invited Brian and Roger to guide them, so that the actors can act more like them. But perhaps because the real team members were found, many places could not be inked and created casually. The dispute between Freddie and his teammates mainly stems from Paul's desire to monopolize Freddie, and the contradiction between everyone's personality and ideas is only lightly brought about. On the issue of homosexuality, the writing was lighter and lighter, without explaining why Freddie changed from being a heterosexual to a homosexual. Although in reality, many people will suddenly discover their true sexual orientation, not necessarily due to any special reasons, but this will become abrupt and inexplicable in the movie, and it will be in the tangled relationship between Freddie and Mary. It will be more difficult to understand. In reality, Mary still maintains a friendly relationship with Freddie after he knows the true nature of Freddie. Although Freddie betrayed Mary, he still regards Mary as his lifelong wife, and does not want this woman to leave because he fell in love with a man. He even gave her most of his fortune after death (Mary earned a lot more than Freddie's partner when he died). With such a tangled relationship, the film only "explains", but it does not try to dig out the thoughts and mentality of the characters. As a result, the film is "confessional", and does not belong to the "perspective" that a film should have.
Overall, the movie is good-looking. But its "good-looking" largely comes from the legendary character of the orchestra itself and the charm of the actors when it comes to acting, rather than the movie itself.
