Movie experience: It may not be the world that changes oneself, but oneself

I still remember the moment I just watched this movie, the emotions were very exciting, as if after watching a hero movie, the cells of the body were all opened, and I was very sensitive to the emotions hidden in the dark night. I looked out the window. Going out, looking at the people coming and going on the street under your feet, it seems that they can understand their minds, because most people can't live without loneliness in the night.

However, my loneliness is probably nothing compared to the taxi driver Travis.

Travis is a taxi driver. His working hours are from six in the evening to six in the morning the next morning, sometimes until eight. The time he is awake is not much different from that during the day, because whether it is during the day or It's the night, and the world is equally full of contradictions, but the angle of observation during the day and night is different.

Speaking of night, you might think that it was a moment of loneliness because of being too quiet, but for Travis, it was the noisiest moment. The streets were full of garbage, but for such a scene He was in the middle and low class of society, but he couldn't change it. For this reason, the noise caused by the rubbish occupied his heart more significantly than the loneliness at night.

But Travis, who seemed to be poor at this time, was actually a Vietnamese soldier. His heroic posture on the battlefield was gradually forgotten by the world as the war ended. As a result, he suffered from insomnia and became a taxi driver. His world is farther and farther away from the world of most people, just as day and night dominate the two ends of the world.

However, many times we don’t know exactly which world we are in. Travis is the same. It was not until his first date with Besty who was in love at first sight, Besty’s sentence "We are people in different worlds" , Travis felt it for the first time. The distance between himself and the real society, however, he still didn't understand the reason, so he could only turn this unexplained anger to Besty's boss, the presidential candidate Palantine.

Thinking from here, in fact, I vaguely saw myself in Travis. It was a kind of helplessness trapped in a trap but at a loss what to do, which in turn caused incomprehension and even anger towards this society, and the assassination of Palantine was not so much. It is an exit, in fact, it can be said that it is a goal to support his survival. Just like returning to the battlefield, destroying the enemy is the mission of the soldiers and the purpose of living.

I was very impressed by Travis’s dialogue: "Now I see it clearly. My whole life is pointed in one direction. I see that now. There never has been any choice for me."

But from another perspective, in fact, sometimes the world is not without choices, but we don't give ourselves the opportunity to choose.

But in fact, not everyone understands Travis’s anger towards this society, and it is undeniable that this is often the norm, and this is why I think this movie can be called a classic. He is not only profound Describes the world of people like Travis, and at the same time clearly expresses the position and thoughts of another world, which not only deepens Travis's anger, but also allows viewers to understand the difference between the two worlds.

Just like one time, Travis carried Palantine to the presidential candidate at work.

Palantine asked him: Which part of this country do you want me to change?

Travis expressed excitedly that he hopes that all the garbage in this country can be disposed of, because they are not worthy of living in this world.

However, although we all know that activities such as poisonous insects and prostitution that prevail at night are indeed inappropriate, few people can understand the urgency and necessity of Travis's "clean-up", because Palantine and Travis are obviously The land is people in two different worlds. It is difficult for Palantine to understand the "real evil" of the world, and that is the view of Travis driving a taxi on the street every night; at this time, the dividing line of this world is far greater than that of the first. A clearer path also planted the seeds of Travis's bloody road.

After the seed was in the soil, it was bound to germinate. When Travis' plan to assassinate Palatine did not go as expected, the emotions writhing in his heart all led to the exit of "Saving Iris".

After all, his soldier’s soul has never been extinguished. The acquired sense of justice rationalizes his bloodbath; here I can’t help but recall the conversation between Travis and my colleagues.

He said: "A man takes a job and that job becomes what he is. you know, like... You do a thing and that's what you are."

This reminds me that when I was young, I always said words like "try hard not to be changed by the world." I thought of myself and retorted, and said to him: "Actually, it is not the world that changes oneself, but oneself more often."

What kind of work you do will become what kind of person, mediocre for most of your life, many times the ending is still unsatisfactory, and Travis is the same. He has been a soldier and hero for half of his life, and once again set foot on the land. The glory was washed away, and it became a stone that was pushed to and fro at the bottom of society. The bloody road can be said to be an exit, but for Travis, it may be more like an end.

What's interesting is that the radical action to save Iris made Travis a hero. He was in the newspaper and was respected by the world. Even Besty, who dumped him at the beginning, turned back to show his goodness. He regained the spirit of the year. I found the value of my own existence, and even the "war of justice" pushed himself back to the so-called "normal world." For Travis, the lynching justice was a symbol of power, just like he was Palantine's expectations were the same. At this time, he completed the task alone, and the satisfaction of self-realization brought him back to "this world".

At the end of the film, Travis’s last line "so long" is my favorite place in the whole film. On the surface, he said goodbye to Besty (in colloquial terms), but I think that is what he said to himself, a long experience. After all the disturbances, he finally returned to "this side of the world", which may not be the place he was eagerly looking forward to, but staying "here" always gave people an inexplicable sense of security.
