"PB" was a play when I was in junior high school. At the time, my father recommended it to me and my mother. After dinner, the family of three connected their father’s computer to the TV and watched it together. Not coming down
Later in high school, I once went to the English teacher's office to send homework. I saw the teacher was watching a play. The black man in the play seemed to be C-Note, so I chatted with the teacher a few words. Later, the teacher recommended this drama in the class because of the ghosts and gods. Then we started to play "PB" on the projector 40 minutes before the evening self-study.
First of all, I must say that of course I know that PB is just a drama that focuses on storytelling, especially weekly dramas. In order to ensure the ratings, the plot needs to be modified based on the audience’s feedback. The character has to make way for the plot. For example, PB often The "actually XXX is still alive" technique is a bit disgusting, so there is no need to talk about characters in the storytelling works
But because the play carries some memories, after reviewing it, I decided to take a few of my favorite characters out for analysis.
Alex Mahone
Must be the number one male god Alex first
While in Sona prison, Scofield was calculated by the prison boss and had to fight a tough guy. Alex came over to tell him the technique of kicking his knees and said this sentence, "There is nothing fair and honest in this world". The positioning of Alex should be different from Scofield. Scofield wears a huge moral aura. He hopes that no one innocent will be harmed in everything he does. The two of them symbolize the two moral tendencies of high IQ. Scofield agrees with morality, while Alex only cares about achieving goals.
So every time I die in a conversation with Alex, I always have a confrontation between these two ideologies.
In the fourth season of PB, there is a detail, when ALEX has a pistol, even if the distance is close, he fires two shots in a row. I particularly like this detail, because it fits the character very well. In the world of Alex’s emptiness, only the appreciation of self is left, and the act of making sure that fires two shots at a time is a perfect externalization of this self-appreciation.
To say a few more words, many dramas and movies like to set the male protagonist to be dead. It is the kind of three views and righteousness. After watching more, it feels quite boring. It is a bit similar to the fairy tales in childhood where justice always defeats evil. . The ending like Woody Allen's "The End of the Match" should be a setting for adults. More importantly, we always think that this kind of storytelling film is good to watch. Don't care about so much. In fact, these influences are mostly subtle.
For ALEX, the purpose of his life is to be with his family. He has to travel around and reunite with his family after the case is resolved.
After he came out of Sona, he began to understand that his previous life would never go back. He could not hide what he had done by completing the transaction with Company, and then returned to his previous life.
In the second season, he was investigated by his subordinate Willer. When he was in the underground parking lot, he said to Willer, " When I saw you, I remembered how I was when I was young and when I was a detective. " This means that Alex was darkened at that time, and his grand ideals There is no hope for the ideological thing. He only cares about the safety of his family, which is why he did not kill him directly after catching the murderer of his child, but killed him after torturing him with inhuman torture.
This picture shows the expression of Alex after killing the murderer. You can see liberation and nothingness in his eyes
ALEX's final emotional choice was also to make sense. Instead of reuniting with his ex-wife Pam, he chose to be with his former subordinate, Agant Lan. Pam can only remind him of the pain before, he needs a new beginning
Finally put a handsome photo of Alex with a sniper rifle
Paul Kellerman
Kellerman is undoubtedly my No. 2 male god. To tell the truth, he is more handsome than Alex with sunglasses, a ring and a sniper rifle. He is the No. 2 male god just because S3 and S4 have no role in the first half of the game. he died
It can be said that in S1, Kellerman did everything for the vice president. It can be said to be a very strange love triangle. Kellerman loves the vice president, and the vice president loves power? !
When he found out that everything he loved before was illusory, and he was regarded as a running dog, he chose to commit suicide
In this shot, he wiped all the medals and a ring he had won when he was a soldier, put on a military uniform, and prepared to end himself with the pistol he used to kill the person between him and the vice president. Seeing here is really broken. This is a story of a brave and innocent boy who couldn’t pursue love and was very hurt.
At the end of S4, after he stood up to help everyone out of crime, he ran into the widow of his old subordinate Danny. She spit on his face. Kellerman just said "It's okay" to the bodyguard next to him. At that time, the big boy grew up. For men
Hewell
Another interesting character is Hewell, the lunatic who helped Scofield recall the map in S1
This lunatic is the most pathetic, he was completely arranged for the plot.
The second episode was casually written to death. The portrayal of the mental hospital is very interesting. He is actually sober himself. The mental hospital allows him to take medicine. After taking the medicine, he becomes stupid. This includes Foucault. Power to speak
Someone might say that he killed his parents, which is also hinted at later. After he escaped, he killed another alcoholic father. He said his father was also an alcoholic.
Here, let’s make up for it. Did its drunkard father beat his mother to death after drinking, and he beat his father to death in a rage? Even so, he is still a murderer, but he is no longer scary
It was most sad when Ma Hong encouraged him to jump down. He looked at the world and said, I want to get out of this maze, yes, this maze built by the power of "normal people" should indeed escape.
Here can be seen with a shot from the fourth season, T-bag said:
"We are captives of our own identities living in the prison of our own creation"
"We are our own prisoners, imprisoned in a prison made by ourselves"
T-Bag
T-bag was caught by the beauty police and asked her, if you didn't know in advance that I was a murderer, would you believe me? T-Bag also has a kind side in his heart, but what he did before gave him no such opportunity.
T-bag is undoubtedly the most successful character portrayed in the whole series. His perverted, slippery, and clever image is indeed very clear. In S1, he was softened first and then cut John Abruzzi's throat with a blade. In S3, he entered the Sona prison and immediately recognized his eldest brother. He always has important information to ensure that he is not out. These are all years of practice on the edge of life and death.
I am very happy to see that he has not been portrayed as a purely perverted image, but has portrayed his other side, that is, the human side. I often say that human nature = divine nature + animal nature , everyone has divine nature, knows good and evil, also has animal nature, and desires
In S4, T-Bag was asked by Self to guard Gretchen's sister and children, as well as a Company employee disguised as Bible Saler. He chose not to kill the employees and let Gretchen's sister and children go. This is the most glorious moment of T-bag in the whole show. He is free, he can control his own destiny, and he is willing to atone for his sins. In this first season, John Abruzzi used God to disguise his own heart of killing. T-Bag saw that the world is just a prison built by ourselves, and set the rules for ourselves. He was tired of endless betrayal and suspicion.
In the whole play, T-Bag let go of the person he was aiming at with the gun twice, once in S2. After he ran out, he faced his beloved Susan and his two children. He found that he could not return to the primary school. It’s time for the child’s multiplication formula, the warmth of home will never come back
For T-Bag, what he really wants is a warm home. In S2, he explained the family background of T-Bag. It can be seen that his father was used as a tool to prove that his family was very smart. He asked the little T-Bag to recite the dictionary and believed that T-Bag would be president in the future. He has never Be treated as a living person
T-Bag takes Susan to the room he lived in when he was a child, hoping to start over with them here, and he hopes to make up for his previous trauma in this way. He told Susan that he was not a beast because he loved Susan, but at this time, it was useless to say anything. No one would choose to give his two children to a perverted murderer who had just escaped from prison, even as an audience. I really believe that love for Susan will change T-Bag
After letting Susan and her child away, he himself cried in the car for a long time. I think from that time on, he knew that he would be lonely in his life, and he would never be accepted by Eros.
In S4, T-Bag once again tasted the sweetness of being accepted by the society
He used the fake identity created by Wisler to work as a sales director in a company for a period of time. During this period, he was asked to give a speech to win over customers. He talked about his experience in Fox River, talked about Belick’s death, and impressed customers
As smart as T-Bag, he certainly has the ability to work in a company. He also hopes that he can have an identity that is accepted by the society, but chasing Scylla has once again shattered his illusions.
He just died like that, I'm talking about spiritual death
Regardless of whether he is pardoned by the judicial system or not, in his future life, he will have sex but no love, trade but no work, and care but no affection.
For T-Bag, returning to prison is his destiny, everyone will end his life in his own way
Belick
I really can’t accept the setting of the people’s policeman Belick’s ending. It was actually killed like this. Obviously, this person is not needed in the plot. You can see that Belick didn’t play any role in the several operations of S4, so I wrote it. died
But Belick’s character is pretty good. The most impressive thing is the phrase "I dare not even commit suicide" in S3.
Belick not only did not have a family, but also lived with his mother. This is a sign of not growing up in the United States. This drama also uses this setting to tell us not to watch him show off in prison. In fact, he has a sense of self. Not strong
His growth was completed slowly between the four seasons. With his repeated failures in hunting down Scofield, and the experience of almost dying in the SONA prison, he began to feel how powerless he was in the world outside that prison.
As for what it says in S4, he failed the police exam several times, and had to become a prison guard. It was really disgusting. It was entirely to move the audience and make them feel pitiful, highlighting how great he sacrificed himself. This kind of inconsistent character. The character operation is really boring
Others
I don't particularly like other characters. For example, like Lincoln, the guards came in S1 and he had to delay for a while. At this time, he had 10,000 choices. He chose to beat others, which led to his detention. Except for the whole character who moved his mind once when connecting to LJ in S2, the whole character is a reckless image at all, not three-dimensional at all. Ah yes, there is another function, that is, his son LJ has been repeatedly arrested as a burden to the team.
Scofield I do not really like, this is a personal preference, right, I'm not very good impression on such a strong moral sense of the people, probably because I myself is this, it is to be the Woody Allen of the phrase "I do not Will join a club with people like me" , so...
In S3, Pash's rule over the prison is the embryonic form of human law. At that time, we did not establish laws for justice, but for governance and production. The most famous "Code of Hammurabi" was formulated by the semi-nomadic Amorites from Syria after sweeping the Mesopotamian plains in order to rule the country and order production.
Also mention the Asians and women in the play
All the Asians that appear in the whole show are all negative images , not that they must be villains, but that this person is not good in quality, whether it is the second fool in S2 who only smiles and hangs up, or the one in S4 Computer monsters are all like this. If there are too many, I won’t say anything. Let’s experience it for yourself.
Female characters are often useless, but they are often taken as hostages. The only tougher is Glychen. Considering the role positioning of other women, it is still acceptable.
In the end, this drama had a great influence on my adolescent aesthetics... I still like David’s oversize outfit, and the turban in S1. I remember that I always wore it in high school. A headscarf running around, it’s really...the past can't bear to look back...
