When I was a child, I had the impression of a terrifying mouthful of blood in a rough VCD disc, but until today, I revisited it and found out how good "Jaws" is. Spielberg is really a talented director. The pictures and tones of the film are very real and comfortable, and the rhythm is just right, without making people tired or impatient.
The story is complete and smooth. The characters of each character are well portrayed. The mayor’s profiteering, the sheriff’s anxious contradictions, the sheriff’s wife’s worries, Gwent’s lovely self-satisfaction, and the hearty and enthusiasm of the shark expert . The lines were lively. I remember seeing the two lines of "the mayor of Shark City" and "rattle the bell for dinner," and I smiled directly in front of the screen. The lines are not only lively, but also capable. They don't have the muddy, incomprehensible and embarrassing characteristics of these dog-blood soap operas. On the contrary, the dialogues between the characters are very charming, and the humming ballads are also very impressive.
The actors' acting skills are all online, very good and very natural. I feel that experts and retired veterans perform better than the sheriff, perhaps because the sheriff is difficult to act as a contradictory character. The mayor is also great. When he heard the experts say that the shark caught was not the one that killed people, he immediately stretched his face, and then when the experts said he was going to conduct an autopsy comparison, I would never forget the uncomfortable squinting eyes. Hahaha.
In this genre of thriller film, what struck me the most was the memory of the atomic bomb dropped by the US military in 1945. As the US warship was sunk by the Japanese army, hundreds of US troops were buried in the sea. The trauma here, these feelings, are heavy and complicated to the sharks, to the ocean, to the war, and to the history.
After watching Spielberg's movies, I have a deep understanding of why some movies are so ugly and what the problem is. A good film does not lie in showing off the skills, in the big scenes, in how many big-name actors are invested, but in the story is wonderful, moving, and true to life, making you immersive.
