Let me talk about the part I like first. This movie has a very important image. Not only the image, but also the key to the development of the plot-the eye. Because Tom had acted in another movie closely connected with the eyes, Kubrick's "Eyes Wide shut" (Eyes Wide shut), which caused me to be on stage sometimes. The eyes have multiple meanings in this movie. First of all, it represents a person's identity, personal identity, which is equivalent to a Chinese ID card. No matter if you are working, relaxing or entertaining, you need eyedent. But as the first scene of the movie shows, in the slums, blind people (perhaps deliberately digging out their eyeballs to hide their identity) and people who have changed their eyeballs (illegal, of course) abound. Therefore, what the blind drug seller said, "In a world where everyone is blind, the one-eyed person is the king." The whole story is revealed.
The emphasis on "see" in the film abounds. In the first case, the husband said to his wife who had been cheating for many years, "You know how blind I am without glasses." "The Prophet" (precog) said repeatedly, "Can't you see? Can't you see?" And, The reason why the protagonist loses the child is also because he can’t see; he can’t see his boss, his closest friend is lying to himself; if he can’t see the system, there’s a problem; he can’t see what he’s doing, he thinks He is redeeming his sins and trying to make up for his own faults, but the truth is that he is only hurting the people around him.
Let's go back to the high-tech display in the film, so fancy, right? From another entry point, it tells an old-fashioned issue, technology. Many people say that we have no faith now, wrong, we believe in science. This is a problem that has been plagued us since the technological revolution and rationalism. We believe in science, superstitiously believe in science, and eventually, we will be conquered by science. "Prophet" is the materialization of faith, Precrime Department is the church, and Lamer is the pope.
So, when the prophet tells you that your future is like this, will you do what he says? In other words, now is the time for our personal will to shine.
Many people will look at this movie from the perspective of conquering or collective and personal relationships. I think this is superficial and meaningless. But this film is indeed called "Minority Report", so since the minority is mentioned, it is inevitable to talk about the tyranny of the majority over the minority, the upper-level elite's control of social resources, and so on. There is one detail, I hope it is not my over-interpretation. Lamer received a revolver as a gift at the celebration banquet. He said that this gun symbolized the end of the American Civil War. As we all know, after the Civil War, the power of the federal government has greatly increased. In contrast, everyone's freedom has shrunk greatly. So, does Lamer's pistol symbolize the official beginning of his dictatorship?
PS When I was young, Colin Farrell was really good-looking, I almost forgot how much I liked him before, because he was a bad movie. In the film, a former seminary student and FBI agent have a great setting. A very wise character, he kisses his cross every time it is critical. He is the real priest, believe in yourself, believe in the truth in your heart, and believe that God is protecting yourself.
