I didn't have much interest in this movie, but when I saw the director's name, I felt compelled to watch it. Moreover, the music is said to be excellent, so I feel like I can look forward to it.
Hey~ I never imagined how it would feel like a musical. Some clips of the car chase scene are dazzling, and even the driving route is almost cut, fortunately, it fits the rhythm of the music. Especially the opening "bellbottoms" felt very burning all at once. Next, the male protagonist is very comfortable to buy coffee for a long shot, but at best it is a very interesting MV. What is the connection with the movie, maybe it is the comparison with the second time buying coffee?
Since I am attracted by the director, let's talk about the director first. Edgar Wright does not seem to be a well-known director like Nolan or David Fincher, and it is also possible that British humor does not have that high domestic audience. However, "Blood and Cute Trilogy" is still famous among many fans.
Edgar Wright is the kind of director who can play various genres from zombies to police detectives to science fiction adventures. In view of my own movie-watching volume, I don't watch many fast and passionate movies, so I don't have much feeling in [Ghost Car God]. And Wright likes to talk about this point of hobbies, but I can feel it. For example, [Zombie Shaun] once appeared in the scene of throwing records, and [Hot Blood Detective] also appeared in [Ultimate Pride] and [Jedi Men], and there was a feeling that I couldn't help but pay tribute. Sean Page and other jokesmen have also contributed a lot of their own collection addiction, making it a bridge of relish. And [Monster Company] and [Fight Club] also appeared in [Golden Car God]. But for a while, I couldn't understand, even if the lines of [Monster Company] are mentioned, what is the meaning?
As far as the plot is concerned, the early stage is still interesting, but the more you want to end it quickly, the more you want to end quickly. The bloody flag on the protagonist's hand has already stood up, but it's too sudden. Is the trick to death? The desperate mandarin ducks in the back row said they were dumbfounded, and I also expressed incomprehension to the screenwriter. The second half also officially opened the legendary protagonist halo of "No one can beat me in my BGM". Desperate male mandarin ducks have many opportunities to knock off the male lead, and they are all wasted in the lines. At the cafe, you were going to kill the police sooner or later anyway, so why bother to sneak in the book. In the parking lot, why did you first deaf the male protagonist’s ears, and then shoot the female protagonist? Doesn’t the whole story end after a shot?
In addition, the soundtrack seems to appear as a big highlight, but apart from the camera and the rhythm, there is nothing too surprising, and it is not even as good as the [Three Old Gunners] some time ago. After all, everyone's tastes are getting more and more disconcerting, and the contrast can arouse a little interest.
My personal opinion is that the director might as well make a podcast, make a list of recommended songs, add a little introduction to each song, at least it can be a modern pirate radio station, there is no need to make a movie. The combination of Luo Dayou + Du Qifeng or Guardians of the Galaxy + pop music of the last century is not just a flash of inspiration, don't always add your personal taste to it, it doesn't resonate so much.
