Success in music, failure in audio

Edgar Wright & Ansel Elgort

After watching Edgar Wright's "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy, he can already feel his love for music. Now, " End of the World " has several OSTs that have always been in the playlist and will pop out from time to time.

In the early stage, I saw a full set of pink promotional materials and music + drag racing trailers of "Baby Driver", and the look and feel was special. According to the tonality, I guess that the final product should "hit the color", and there may be some small surprises in the pink series, so the expectation value is doubled. When I finally enjoy the film, I will personally feel that the sound during the live screening is so great! Heavy! want! Up!

It may be due to technical problems. The theater I watched was very small, but the sound was very loud . From the opening robbery + drag racing to the end, the music never stopped. At the end of the scene, all the voices were cleared, and I still felt a roar in my ears. It's cool, but it's really too noisy, which greatly affects the viewing experience.

Put aside the sound problem and return to the movie itself. The coordination of the music and the picture is indeed very good, and the movements are all on the drums and it feels very refreshing. Everything in the film seems to be for music, and many details are echoing. I personally like a long shot of the male protagonist buying coffee after the opening scene. The scene, music and lyrics are very interesting. There are several passages in the film that are actually suitable to be edited as movie promotion and marketing fragments, such as the opening scene, the male protagonist's lip-synchro dance scene, the Tequila shootout scene, the Was He Slow mixing scene... It is not a problem to attract the audience. With music as the background, you can keep the overall rhythm of the movie online, and it is not easy to have a sense of procrastination. However, this method of making movies, on the one hand, does have the suspicion of large-scale MVs. On the other hand, although the fast-paced music and action scenes have a good sense of matching, the audience will feel tired if they are used too much, and the excitement will be greatly reduced in the latter part of the story. Therefore, the overall movie is a bit high and low, the opening is amazing, but the follow-up is not refurbished, and it is inevitable that the interest is lacking.

In terms of the plot, for the coherence of music, the story line is smooth, there is no exquisite design, and there seems to be no pink surprise. At the same time, every character has no beginnings and ends. I don’t have any opinion on Jamie Foxx’s abrupt end (probably because his role is a bit too villainous in my opinion), but Kevin Spacey should obviously be a There is a role for the story, and his son seems to be a not-so-simple kid, but the current role of Spacey is more like a cutscene. The characters who have done bad things in the film will end up either dead or in jail. It feels like maybe it is to survive the trial in China?

The Baby Driver movie is relatively close to American popcorn. It is a unique genre created by Edgar, but it also lacks the director’s common British humor to some extent because of the location of the film (it is said that Atlanta was chosen as the shooting location because Tax rebate policy), the viewing experience is still very suitable for watching in the cinema, and even shaking legs with music. But we must pray that the theater staff adjust the volume to a moderate level, otherwise such intensive music bombing will become a torture to the ears.

PS: OST is very suitable for background music for work, involuntarily speeding up the speed of typing on the keyboard. However, at this moment, it may also reflect the drawbacks of some music bombing movies, because when listening to the OST, there are many songs in which I did not recall the specific passages in which they appeared.
