The much-anticipated "Wonder Woman" started painting this week, and the freshness of Rotten Tomatoes is 97%. This achievement can be regarded as a dawn for the previously sluggish DCEU.
At the same time, another heavy news was released that the director Zach Schneider will withdraw from the creation of the Dawn of Justice series. The next most important set of combos in the DC universe will be created by Jos Wei, who is a reunion. Deng took over.
I am not a fan of Zhadao, and I have never appreciated his excessive pursuit of epic and grand narrative style in recent years. But seeing him leave, I still feel very sorry in my heart. Not only because he is a real expert who understands comics and gets G-spots in comics, but also because it means that the dark and dark style of the DC Universe is likely to gradually drift away.
Except for the early "Watchmen", most of the works Zach Schneider participated in in DC are actually not highly rated: "Man of Steel" failed at the beginning and was tedious and tedious; the content of "BVS" exploded, the design collapsed, and the music Views are considered to be mixed; "Suicide Squad" is even more open and low, and the fantasy start has a smashing start.
But even so, his works have never given up on the interpretation of human nature, the questioning of self and belonging, and the observation of good and evil in other ways.
So my feelings for Zach Schneider and the DC Universe behind him are also very complicated: some things are not easy to do well, but you will still be willing to see someone doing it.
Regrettably, relative to the influence the producer should have, the popular "Wonder Woman" is no longer such a "Zach Schneider" movie. Compared with the previous works, it no longer pursues the dark and heavy painting style, it does not have so many gray areas, it is lighter and thinner.
As the first work to carry the banner of a female hero in the American comic film, the overall style of "Wonder Woman" and the protagonist Diana Prince can be considered to complement each other: bright, traditional, completely positive, a little boring but likable. Compared with the past, its structure is extremely simplified, and the rhythm control is more in line with the needs of commercial narratives. Regardless of the advancement of the male and female protagonists' emotional lines, the establishment of small groups, and the setting of laughter, they are more acceptable to the audience, which is also the main bonus item on the reputation of this movie.
But for me, the most attractive thing about "Wonder Woman" is the lingering sense of "the end is coming" that lingers in the whole story. Whether it's the Amazon female warriors still practicing day after day in the paradise island of the paradise, or Steve was born into a vain and a snake during his spy career, everyone is waiting for the death knell to ring, like waiting for the second boot upstairs. The bravest fighters are still powerless in front of the war machine.
When Diana insisted on breaking through the no-man’s land, Steve told her:
"We cannot save everyone in war."
When Diana questioned that the sharpshooter in the team could no longer fire a gun, her comrades who had been forced to deceive for a lifetime told her:
"Not everyone can be what he wants to be."
And my favorite clip is Diana and Steve dancing in the fine snow, they talk about the peaceful era:
"When we are not at war, we are addicted to eating breakfast, going to work, meeting someone, marrying her, having a few children, this is a lifetime."
"I don't know anything about it."
This conversation seems unremarkable, but when placed in the context, it depicts unspeakable sadness and romance. The whole world is filled with gunpowder, and the two people who have entered the world and born in the extreme have become connected because of the war.
Love is on the verge of breaking out, but it is so untimely.
Of course I love Marvel’s interlocking perfect system, highly embodied industrial standards, and "no one can beat me in my BGM" hearty suddenness, but this time the standard of "Wonder Woman" And tradition, it also made me feel another type and aesthetic retrospect. And these touches and discussions about war, human nature and even patrilineal relationship are more like little tails that lead, leaving a sad footnote to this golden movie.
Next, of course, I will still look forward to what kind of new situation will be opened up for DCEU by commercial games like Wen Ziren and Taillight Great God, but for the wonderful dark world that Nolan and Zha Dao once created, even if it comes to an end for now, it’s coming to me. Say, still cherish respect, and never die.
