When I first watched Whiplash, I naively thought that Damian was a director who was good at subtraction and wouldn't easily pile up elements. Especially at the end of this single-tone movie, there are only people, drums, blood and sweat jumping on it, the realm of the unity of human and art at that moment, the concise and powerful character creation, and the ultimate madness that almost freezes time at the end. Become the annual lens language in the minds of many people. However, this extremely spiritual director has completely become an excellent director since that "five years later". At some point, the tribute to the old Hollywood musicals became the panacea of the current musicals, and the tribute to the scenes of "Song in the Rain" and other films became the gold medals of such films. From the impeccable shooting and editing, to the setting of the scene, the perfection of the song and dance choreography (although not very close to the story), it is revealed that the director has received sufficient funds this time and can accumulate and sell various elements without any scruples.
