The plot seriously drags down the special effects

The structure of the plot has great potential. Students who are gifted but on the road of no return, teachers who prevent darkness but rely on darkness to survive, this is already very tense, coupled with the conflict between scientific rationality and metaphysics, and whether they abide by nature Conflict, a deep description will be very brilliant.

Or, just like "Pacific Rim", it is also a good choice to create a brainless plot to avoid the audience being distracted by the plot and to concentrate on enjoying the special effects.

But in the end, I chose a complex structure, but it was scribbled and reduced to a rough moderation.

Although Gu Yi's splendor was brilliant, he was supported by costumes, appearances, and performances. In fact, his temperament was not much inked. Only the words before his death concentratedly reflected his temperament. Moreover, the large-scale monologue before death (although the form is a dialogue, but the two actually do not collide with each other, in fact, it is a monologue) shows that the character's temperament is very stupid. What's terrible is that this monologue is not wonderful. I want to express a sense of fatalism, but it feels like a stall. It is too strong to express the free and easy teaching of death, and expressing the nostalgia for life is like arty.

Casillas was pitiful, symbolized, as if in a routine. The younger brothers are even more vague. It is important to know that this kind of heroic villain should be more important than the protagonist (because the protagonist of the heroic movie can basically only stand on the side of justice and easy routines, and the villain can be more diverse regardless of motives and actions).

The metaphysics related to the plot is even worse. Gu Yi just started to introduce magic as "programming source code of reality". Although the Matrix has already played this topic, it is actually very concise. This theory is enough, because first, the more wonderful things are often the simpler; second, everyone is watching special effects. If you want to understand all kinds of metaphysical theories, just read a book. The result is superfluous and superfluous to add the fur of Buddhism and Taoism, but it is far-fetched. For example, the introduction from Taoism can not answer Dr. Strange's question "If you want me to follow it, how can I control it"? This is a practical spinnaker, and it is enough to use the example of wind and headwind as an analogy, and there is no need to talk about Taoist theory at all. Another example is the introduction of Buddhism to let go of arrogance, but how much effect does this play? Dr. Strange is constantly self-righteous, self-learning ahead of time, and even reading and operating at the same time, that is the fastest way to master the ultimate power to turn things around. Not to mention Casillas who believes in summoning Domam to live forever. It can be seen that no matter the right way or the evil way, learning magic does not need to let go of arrogance. Even Gu Yi thinks he can break the rules and absorb the dark power, isn't he arrogant?

In addition, the special effects of the film are also inadequate.

At first, the ancient wizard said that magic was used to cast spells, concrete weapons and armors. But in fact the main function is only concrete weapons, spell is only used to change the venue. Except for changing the location, no other spells were developed, even the concrete weapons were all melee combat, no long-range, no hidden weapons. If there are more types of attacks, the effect should be better. In addition, there is no healing spell, no gain spell, and no armor, causing the wizards to become crispy, and it is easy to hang if hit. No magical concrete armor has ever been seen. Auxiliary appliances are not good. The cloak is actually very powerful, because the movement caused by the cloak can not be controlled by the user, it is sudden, and it can be separated from the flanking attack. But after the performance of the New York Temple, the back was reduced to decoration. The "Hot Wheels" (by mistake) also didn't show the speed advantage at all.

Of course, even with so many flaws, those special effects shots are enough to cover a hundred ugliness.

  • Christine Palmer: Where have you been?

Dr. Stephen Strange: Well, after Western medicine failed me, I headed east, and I ended up in Kathmandu.

    Christine Palmer: Kathmandu?

    Dr. Stephen Strange: Yeah.

Christine Palmer: What? Like the Bob Seger Song?

Dr. Stephen Strange: 1975, Beautiful Loser, side A. Yeah. And I went to a place called Kamar-Taj and I... talked to someone called "The Ancient One." And I...

Christine Palmer: Oh. So you joined a cult.

Dr. Stephen Strange: No, I didn't. No, not exactly. No. I mean... They did teach me to tap into powers that I never even knew existed.

Christine Palmer: Yeah. That sounds like a cult.

Dr. Stephen Strange: It's not a cult.

Christine Palmer: Well, that's what a cultist would say.
