Movies are not the same as novels

Compared with the Chinese translation, I will pick up a few big or important changes that I think are important:
1. The biggest change is of course that when the male protagonist in the novel was about to go to MAV, he broke the communication equipment, so he and the earth lost again. Contact, he took care of the rest of the schedule alone, including how to escape from the sandstorm. This paragraph is indeed difficult to visualize and a bit boring, but it is quite fun to read. It is recommended to read a book to make up.
2. The movie also omits a plot that I think is quite important: when the male protagonist is preparing for a long journey, he takes the trouble to use two triangular tents and a canvas from the perch to create a bedroom for himself on the road—— After NASA saw it from the satellite image, it thought this was a workshop, allowing him to work in it without wearing a space suit-this detail is quite interesting: he has not really experienced the hardships of "survival on a deserted island" People don't realize the importance of such trivial matters: a man mainly drives a car for more than three months. This tent bedroom that can stand upright and lie down has a very important effect on his body, especially his spirit. So on the way, he encountered a car rollover accident (not mentioned in the movie). After finally solving it, he happily mentioned that he could use the bedroom again. The novel says here: These little things are always the most important in life. This seemingly humble plot design makes this character more authentic and believable. Prior to this, he used limited resources to soak himself in a few hot baths. Before the journey, he planned the last canned meat into a landmark reward during the journey. In the first ration that NASA tried, there was not only food but also a package. A USB flash drive full of music and episodes. . . A person can survive on the lonely Mars for more than 500 days without psychological breakdown. In addition to being a tease, he is also much deprived of these little pleasures. Only by taking appropriate pleasure in hardship can we relax our nerves and overcome difficulties. A little bit of chicken soup: having fun outside of work is actually more beneficial than we think. Taking care of the soul is as important as taking care of the body.
3. As for the crew, if they fail to connect with the sun god, they will starve to death if they can't get supplies. What should I do? In the novel, the crew has a plan hidden from NASA. As for what the plan is, I don’t know what the plan is:) There are more depictions of the love between the computer girl and the doctor in the novel, but the movie cuts all of the front and keeps the back. The kiss makes me feel a bit awkward and redundant. If you want to delete it, it's better to delete it all.
4. Why did China "provide" the sun god, and what is the exchange terms with NASA, the film is not clear about it.
5. The ending of the movie is relatively protracted, and the ending of the novel ends earlier-where did you end it? Guess~
6. By the way, the link of growing potatoes in the book is much more scientific than the movie. It is recommended to watch the movie before you finish. Going to make up the book instead of watching the movie after reading the book, so that you can get incremental happiness:)

I like it very much! A rare science fiction movie with pure taste for more than ten years: the details are rigorous without pretending to be sophisticated, the special effects, the realistic sceneries are exquisite, and the texture is great! (I think the best thing about this film is the two words: texture) The last time I saw such a meticulous and rigorous space movie was "Apollo 13" (sorry Nolan, sorry Caron). I like Lei Ye's photo shoot of this space version of the desert island for the rest of his life! Can be included in my ten-year science fiction ten best.

With the whole film being so long, there are too few "hard" sci-fi content. Most of the characters are gagging about who is more funny than anyone else, as well as various retro discos. In the past two years, there have been geocentric and interstellar, and there is no surprise in the visual effects of this movie. What the Americans can't do is still want me to take action. This flattering. Father, hurry up and continue to shoot Prometheus, this is the kind of fun for the whole family...

The Martian quotes

  • Mark Watney: [recording a video message] If the oxygenator breaks down, I'll suffocate. If the water reclaimer breaks down, I'll die of thirst. If the hab breaches, I'll just kind of implode. If none of those things happen, I'll eventually run out of food and starve to death. So, yeah... Yeah...

  • Mark Watney: I've got to make a lot more water. The good thing is, I know the recipe: You take hydrogen, you add oxygen, and you burn. Now, I have hundreds of liters of unused hydrazine at the MDV. If I run the hydrazine over an iridium catalyst, it'll separate into N2 and H2. And then if I just direct the hydrogen into a small area and burn it. Luckily, in the history of humanity, nothing bad has ever happened from lighting hydrogen on fire.
