The film revolves around cutting-edge technology that can change the size of the human body. It tells the growth story of the second generation of "Ant-Man" from two lines: The unknown thief Scott Lang is agile and has superb stealing skills, but he committed a big deal. The case was arrested and jailed, but to win back the trust of his wife and daughter, he had to find another way; the famous scientist and the first generation of "Ant-Man" Dr. Hank Pym developed and sold "Ant" to prevent his former apprentice Darren Cross. The "Wasp", a replica of the "Human" battle suit, avoids cruel wars to humans, and selected Scott to cooperate and jointly steal Darren's achievements and destroy its research and development factory.
Compared with the traditional Marvel hero series, although the main plot of this film is still the heroic story of the wits fighting the big villain to save the world, it lacks a lot of the sense of grand mission to defend the well-being of mankind, and has a lot of little character humor style. The whole film keeps laughing. The protagonist Scott is in a miserable situation: he has a previous record, no job, separated from his wife and daughter, and a master's degree but was dismissed by the ice cream shop owner. Unlike members of the reunion, he has no superpowers. The reason for deciding to take the risk is just thinking. Become the hero of the young daughter's dream. Paul Rudd, who has rich experience in comedy performances, plays this role very handily. Although his facial expressions do not contain smiles, his eyes often reveal sly meanings. Whenever he does bad things, he makes the audience laugh and do big things. There is no dazzling halo at the moment of contribution. Dr. Hank, who is like a male god, although he was once a generation of "Ant-Man", today is just an ordinary old man who retires at home. Even when he goes to his company, he will be required to show his ID card. To perform the task and pass away, the daughter is full of incomprehension about herself. In a sense, he is also a personal failure. However, the plot of the film did not deliberately go to a sensational or inspirational route, but used a somewhat helpless humor to easily interpret many painful passages. Perhaps it is the uniqueness of the small image of "Ant-Man" that makes this small hero more likely to have a sense of substitution, unlike the previous Marvel protagonist who is so far away from the audience.
In addition to the two distinctive male protagonists, several supporting roles in the film are also very brilliant. The little Mexican brother Luiz, who never picks up the point of speaking, is full of joy when he speaks no matter how heavy the news is. No matter how big the difficulty is, he is heartless. In the process of his retelling, several characters on the stage have become cooperative. His personal style, "Little Coffee Show" lip-synching method is hilarious; Scott's youngest daughter, Kathy Long, is a very eccentric young girl who likes the ugly dolls sent by his father the most, and also likes to be enlarged. His ant pets, keen observation and sharp words often reveal wisdom beyond age; although the "Falcon" Sam Wilson in the reunion has not many scenes, he has a taste of "good brother" in superheroes. The fight with Scott also seemed to have a calm attitude to play with the new brother.
People who watch Marvel movies will have a "hero complex", whether they are infused with secret serum and called the "Captain America" who is called a super soldier, or the "Hulk" who is irradiated by gamma rays and transformed into a Hulk, they are all in Construct an illusion beyond the ordinary for ordinary people: one day I will be able to catch everyone's attention and save the world from fire and water. Among these fantasies, "Ant-Man" may be the one closest to us, and a magical suit can defeat the enemy with small ones. However, it also tells us how small and ridiculous the event of saving the world may seem. The fatal blow attempted to the enemy is just a toy locomotive that accidentally fell to the ground.
