Who said this is an inspirational movie, this is obviously a horror movie

Before watching this movie, I was told by spoilers that this is not an inspirational movie in the traditional sense, so I was prepared. While watching the male protagonist who looked a bit like Zuckerberg was scolded bloody by his instructor, he figured out how many liters of blood and sweat would be shed by the male protagonist and changed a few boxes of band-aids to get his head out. Blast the tutor's cymbal-like head, and play a triumphant song of art.

When the mentor played by JK Simmons said coldly: "i know it was you", I realized why this film is not an inspirational film, because it is completely a genuine horror film. How are you?

I don’t know how many people like me have had all kinds of nightmares since they were young: dreaming of being chased by people, the journey of escape is endless; dreaming of being besieged by monsters, and forced to retreat to a corner with nowhere to shield ; Dream of being abandoned in the wilderness, falling into the tremors of endless loneliness and fear. However, the most real nightmare is the dream of not bringing a pen for the exam, the dream of being late for the exam, and the dream of not being able to do any of the questions on the paper. And this movie is to throw the hero into the nightmares that haunted my childhood.

Do you think you were looked at by the mentor male god? No, no, you are just a small transparent spare tire who was asked to turn over the sheet music. Do you think you seized the opportunity to become a core part? No, no, in a few minutes, you will be replaced by a little meat who is taller and handsomer than you. Do you think you can get admiration if you want to practice getting up early and greedy for the dark, piercing the skin and bleeding, losing your dignity and losing the girl? No, no, this is what you should do, and you need to practice more and do better. Even if you rushed to the show in spite of the pain of a car accident, do you think you will be awarded the title of a dedicated worker model? No no no, You are done. Even later, you think that you finally abandon your previous misconceptions and you can seize the opportunity to win your own future again. You are nervous and excited, with fine beads of sweat coming out of your forehead, rubbing the sweat from your palms on your pants, waiting to strike a new chapter in your life, without knowing that you are just a lamb waiting to be slaughtered. "Upswinging" blew the horn of massacre, you waved your drumsticks in a panic to challenge, the drums were messy, and you fled.

Here, we must name and praise JK Simmons, who really played this perverted teacher. In the process of watching the movie, I tried countless times to grab various musical instruments and smash his head so that everyone can wake up from the nightmare. Especially when he turned and stared at the male protagonist after saying "Upswinging", he could be selected as one of my ten most feared horror images of the year. The girls next to me were so scared that they didn't dare to watch it, and after watching this film, they all said that they would not sleep at night for fear of nightmares.

He is a nightmare. But one cannot stop sleeping for fear of nightmares. At the end of the movie, the male protagonist turned angrily against the stage, with a bloody Caravan reversal, drumsticks flying, sweat flying, blood flying, with skills, anger, and passion, and finally hit an amazing solo. From the initial embarrassment and surprise of the instructor, to the gesture guidance in the middle, to the smile at the corner of the mouth at the end, you know, they have achieved the great harmony of life (major error) in this dense drumming.

From the end, is this an inspirational movie? The male protagonist finally rose up to fight back and proved himself, so can he make strides to the pinnacle of his life? But why can't I feel the slightest excitement, just feel infinitely tired and embarrassed?

A mentor who will never be satisfied will always wait for you to challenge the limit, you know that there is no end to this. In the movie, death, car accident, torture training, and revenge conspiracy are used to tell you that this is a pathological relationship between teacher and student. The so-called struggle, the so-called challenge, and the so-called pursuit of perfect beauty, all turn into ghosts with open blood bowls and mouthfuls, devouring your health, your love, and your life bit by bit. You know that your best choice is to avoid this devil, but you don't. Because you said: "I thick being the greatest musician of the 20th century is anybody's idea of success", "I'd rather die drunk, broke at 34 and have people at a dinner table talk about me than live to be rich and sober at 90 and nobody remembered who I was."

This is the life you want, so don't expect to polish your legend from the praise of "good job".

Whiplash quotes

  • Terence Fletcher: I don't think people understood what it was I was doing at Shaffer. I wasn't there to conduct. Any fucking moron can wave his arms and keep people in tempo. I was there to push people beyond what's expected of them. I believe that is... an absolute necessity. Otherwise, we're depriving the world of the next Louis Armstrong. The next Charlie Parker. I told you that story about how Charlie Parker became Charlie Parker, right?

Andrew: Jo Jones threw a cymbal at his head.

Terence Fletcher: Exactly. Parker's a young kid, pretty good on the sax. Gets up to play at a cutting session, and he fucks it up. And Jones nearly decapitates him for it. And he's laughed off-stage. Cries himself to sleep that night, but the next morning, what does he do? He practices. And he practices and he practices with one goal in mind, never to be laughed at again. And a year later, he goes back to the Reno and he steps up on that stage, and plays the best motherfucking solo the world has ever heard. So imagine if Jones had just said, "Well, that's okay, Charlie. That was all right. Good job." And then Charlie thinks to himself, "Well, shit, I did do a pretty good job." End of story. No Bird. That, to me, is an absolute tragedy. But that's just what the world wants now. People wonder why jazz is dying.

  • Terence Fletcher: Everybody remember, Lincoln Center and its ilk use these competitions to decide who they are interested in and who they are not. And I am not gonna have my reputation in that department tarnished by a bunch of fucking limp-dick, sour-note, flatter-than-their-girlfriends, flexible-tempo dipshits. Got it?
