Redemption-Discussion of Faith in the Prisoner Film

After reading the film reviews that everyone said, the details and ideas are very good, and there are also mentions of God. Combining what I saw and thought when I came to the United States, what I want to say the most is the God in the film and the God in the hearts of Americans. I don't like detailed research, so I said what I read and remembered. Someone said in film reviews that the criminal couple’s motives for committing the crime were incomprehensible. In fact, they knew the background of American beliefs and were very credible. Let's see the decomposition below.

Christmas has just passed. Christmas in the United States is to remind Christians to remember the suffering that Jesus endured on the cross to redeem people's sins and to celebrate the hope that Jesus left to the world after Jesus came to the world. In China, Jesus is an image similar to a prophet, and God is an amiable abstract elder. It may not be much different from Santa Claus, but it is a legend that gives gifts and circulates the earth overnight. In other words, God is among the Chinese people, which is another way of saying God. Most non-Christians mentioned that God is basically interchangeable with "Heaven" or "God".

In the eyes of Americans, the relationship between God and us is the most important in the world. And the new covenant between man and God left by Jesus-people don't have to sacrifice, go to church to confess, etc., but can directly establish contact with God through faith and obtain salvation.

The setting of this film is not a big city like New York or Chicago, but the most common city in the United States. It is very similar to where I am. Everyone usually has a house and drives everywhere. We often preach and preach on the radio, and everyone is generally Christian. These settings are reflected from the beginning of the film. There are many things that ordinary Americans often do. For example, if a child is lost, nearby people gather to light up their blessings. This behavior is probably organized by a church (not necessarily a Catholic church, but this film tends to have a Catholic atmosphere).

In other words, in this kind of city in the film, the proportion of Christians is very high. Most people go to church on Sunday morning. The Bible is often mentioned in conversations. For many problems in life, pray to God and ask other Christians.

This is reflected in the beginning of the film. There is a shot of a cross. When Keller was determined to find his daughter and tortured Alex, he fell to the ground many times and prayed for God's guidance and forgiveness. This shot is by no means redundant, but an important search for spirit and belief in the film. The opposite is the psychology of the couple who committed the crime. First of all, the film shows that the husband went to Father (1) to confess. He mentioned that he kidnapped 16 (or 14?) children and was waging against God. The contrast here is not very strong. Looking at the last wife (Alex Aunt in name) feels that Keller has controlled the self-statement. It is to make parents who have lost their children lose their faith in God.

I said earlier that the Chinese concept of God can be interchanged with God. To translate the two poles of this film in Chinese secular terms, at best, good and evil are rewarded. Do you still believe it? I don't believe it anymore. I will snatch your child away, see if you still believe it? So everyone thinks it's quite abnormal. I also feel quite perverted. But not only that.

If you watch court movies from the Middle Ages, you might find that the king and queen in it always swear by God. You have to know, they don't believe that the world is materialistic, and people die like a lamp. People really believe that they are tempted by the devil to go to hell. The important point repeatedly emphasized in the Bible is that it is easy to believe in God's support and love in good times, but not easy in adversity. From this, Western culture derives free choice. The two poles of God clearly mentioned in this film are Keller and the criminal couple. A desperate person still prays for God's guidance (regardless of his private imprisonment and torture, but on faith), and prays for God's forgiveness. The other one went to confess to the priest, but did not change his intentions; the other continued to bet against God, being extremely paranoid.

When I watched it, I was thinking how lonely, helpless and absurd people are. If there is no God, how can we believe in human nature and love in the existence of all these evils? If there is no God, how do you deal with yourself in despair? People with God still crawl on their feet and pray for grace. Without God, how cold and desperate should people who hate God be?

Therefore, ordinary people in the United States, some people bring continuous love and warmth to others from the bottom of their hearts, because there is a continuous supply of faith from God. Some people are addicted to alcohol, marijuana, and behave pervertedly. No choice. And persist.

Note:

1. Catholic priests, Catholics advocate confession to priests for their sins, and they don't know much about it. Protestantism does not advocate this. The clergy have no rights in the Protestant church.

2. I came to the United States for so long and saw this film by chance. I watch movies very easily, and I am often frightened, so I don't like to watch thrillers and suspense. Although the beginning is bleak, but I didn't expect it to be such a narrative. Persist in reading it. I thought of writing this article when I was in church. After writing down, I felt that the words were inconsistent. Excuse me.
