The dark forces that laid the foundation for the first seven episodes were almost understated in the end. The ending under everyone's expectations did not show a shocking reversal. But after watching the last episode, I love this show even more. In the end, Rust’s confession made me more aware of the screenwriter’s thoughts. Darkness, suspense, and horror have never been the main thrust of the show. The screenwriter’s original intention is unexpectedly simple, very positive, and even very traditional. As the soul of the overall situation, Rust should be able to represent the attitude of the screenwriter. He is faced with endless loneliness and seems to see everything, but his charm lies in his unparalleled sense of justice. With the current trend of storytellers generally tending to tap the dark side of human nature, the courage of screenwriters to do the opposite is very admirable. This can prove that no matter how traditional the spirit is, it should not be obsolete. It just needs a good story as a carrier. Light vs. darkness, the eternal story routine, some people may complain about the old-fashioned ending, but when you think about it, the show has revealed its clues from the very beginning. Rust can be called one of the three most authentic detectives in history. Marty embodies it. It's the mortal side of a detective, but everyone sees Marty's integrity and even recklessness as a police detective. After the whole drama, I have to say that they are really true detectives.
Of course, the most memorable thing about this drama is not its ending or the case, but its characters and atmosphere. The two protagonists are the center of the whole show. Matthew McConaughey has become a fairy, and the mortal detective played by Woody Harrison is also great. What I like most is his face every time he hears Rust's nonsense." what the f**k" expression. In addition, the atmosphere of this drama is really unforgettable, I can almost feel the air of the southern United States.
When I watched the first episode, I never thought that the show would end in such a way. After all, it is the producer's absolute confidence that can create such a drama with complex appearances but a traditional core.
