Text/Levin-Film review published in "Beijing Youth Daily"
Robert Downey Jr. once said that after "Iron Man 3" and "Avengers 2", he will Will not play the superhero role of Iron Man again. Therefore, compared to the first two parts of the series and the "Avengers", "Iron Man 3" shows a strong ending and an unexpected style change. The previous indestructible and powerful Iron Man armor is obviously more in this film. Fragile and easier to damage, because various malfunctions and embarrassment have become a source of laughter in the film; and the owner of the battle armor, Tony Stark, is no longer the confident and romantic boy brother, but suffers The torment of psychological problems has repeatedly fallen into fear and unconfident emotions. It is necessary to start from scratch and regroup to solve the crisis. In short, the Iron Man in this film has become more and more like Batman, with more limited abilities and more susceptible to setbacks and blows. He has to rely on his own will and wisdom to "rise" and defeat powerful enemies. In the end, he, like Batman, got rid of the superhero status of Iron Man and returned to man.
Nolan’s "Batman" trilogy can be said to have had a profound impact on Hollywood. Many comic hero blockbusters and action blockbusters have begun to imitate the seriousness, deepness, internalization, humanization, complexity, and reality of "Batman". The style of sex, more emphasis on plot layout and tension, seems to have formed a new trend. "007 Breaking the Sky" is the first winner to follow the trend, and "Superman: Man of Steel" will be released this summer. "Star Trek: Diablo Unbounded" from the trailer is not difficult to see that it is deeply influenced by this trend. It’s just that I didn’t expect that "Iron Man", which has a very different style from "Batman", would be so swift and clean in the third episode, making the arrogant and assassin Iron Man as depressed and bitter as Batman. From the perspective of the film as a whole, there are gains and losses, and there is a mutual understanding of flaws and advantages.
I personally think that the film focuses on Iron Man’s anxiety, fear and other psychological problems, trying to increase the layering and complexity of the character. Although the intention is good, it is also more breakthrough and creative, but it is still too rigid and deliberate. The first half of the film I have been exaggerating the impact of psychological problems on Tony Stark and the damage caused to the relationship between him and his girlfriend Pepper, but it still feels too abrupt and not convincing. That Stark who has always been confident enough to be arrogant, how can he completely lose his self-confidence and become panicked all day because of the unbelievable nuclear bomb detonation in the "Avengers"? And when he heard the little boy saying that the armor had not been repaired, he was so scared that he stopped urgently, trembled, and curled up. This kind of detail was undoubtedly overstated. At the end of the film, Stark is willing to let the steel armor all self-destruct, perform surgery to remove the energy block from his chest, and return to ordinary people. It also appears that he lacks sufficient psychological foreshadowing and character support.
This film, like "Batman", strengthens the villain’s invincible superpowers, as well as the well-arranged conspiracy, weakens Iron Man’s omnipotent superpowers, and more shows his mentality and emotions as an ordinary person, using mortals. The will and wisdom to solve the problem side. After Stark’s mansion was destroyed in the film, he began to set foot on the plot to solve the conspiracy alone. This is a clear manifestation of this style change. It undoubtedly created a plot highlight that was not available in the first two episodes of the series. Stark’s interaction with the little boy , The adventure of chasing clues in the small town, and the self-made agent equipment goes deep into the enemy's cave, all make the plot more colorful, more grounded, and approachable. However, this "from god to man" setting is still inevitable deliberately. The villain's unscrupulously arranging gunships to destroy Stark's mansion in broad daylight is exaggerated, but why does Stark have to? Pretend to be dead, and then act sneakily like an "underground worker"? Could it be that with the strength of his company and the resources of the U.S. government, it is impossible to start a head-on battle with terrorists? And in this film, Iron Man’s armor is too much to fight, think about the first episode and the F22 war did not fail. In this film, even a few gunships attacking the mansion can’t handle it, so I have to use all kinds of "stupid methods". "In order to cope. Think about the earth-shattering battle between Iron Man and Thor in "The Avengers". The battle armor is not a big problem. How come the battle armor in this film breaks when it hits, and it disperses when it hits it? Stark escaped from the destruction of the mansion while wearing a battle armor and fell outside the town. Why couldn't the battle armor be used anymore? And in the ending fight with the super-powered Fireman, the damage rate of the battle armor was too high, not to mention that it couldn't deal with the big villain BOSS, even those firemans, the Iron Man battle armor was quite difficult to deal with. Moreover, in order to show the "human" side of Iron Man, the superb flight scene of Iron Man in this film is far lower than the first two episodes of the series. Stark is more active on the ground, but when Iron Man really flies, It is the most glamorous and exciting passage in this film that can really make the audience excited, so the gains and losses of this approach in this film are really hard to measure.
Although the bold style change of the film gives the plot and characters some unnatural deliberate points, the advantages of the film are still enough, and there is absolutely no shortage of surprises during the viewing process. Especially the horror tycoon Mandalin played by Ben Kingsley. The previous publicity made the audience think that he is the big villain of the film. Unexpectedly, there is no mystery in this, and this role is actually not a funny point. The remote control mode of Iron Man's armor is also definitely a highlight. It not only completely refreshes the previous Iron Man's armor wearing mode, brings a refreshing feeling to the audience, but also adds many interesting points and plot turning points. For example, the audience could not think that Stark could control the armor to put on Little Pepper and let her rescue Stark. They did not expect that Iron Man would be hit and fall apart by a large truck after successfully rescuing the survivors of Air Force One. Stark's real body is actually remotely controlled. The remote control mode of Battle Armor at the end of the film has also become the key to breaking the villain’s invincible mode. Of course, Pepper’s transformation into a “Superwoman” has become a very interesting feature.
