Belief is not a multiple choice question

I think Junior Pie is like a roller coaster ride.

I originally watched it with a relaxed mindset of watching an adventure film full of fantasy and childishness. When I saw the faction looking for gods among different religions, I found that the director was discussing faith. So, when the grown-up pie told the writer "My adventure story is related to faith, after listening to my story, you may believe in God again", I began to sit tightly, and did not dare to neglect every detail of this film. .

However, at the end of the film, the adult faction just asked, between the two stories, which one do you prefer to believe? When the writer replied that he would rather believe in the tiger, the adult said, so you believe in God.

To be honest, this answer disappointed me.

After watching the movie, I had a meal with my classmate Chen Yang. I asked her, what do you think of the final answer in the film? She said, very angry. Sister Chen Yang is a Muslim who is not particularly religious, and I am a Christian who is not particularly religious, so we can be good friends.

The reason for disappointment or anger is that such an answer is tantamount to saying that the so-called belief is simply because believing makes us feel better. Between believing and unbelief, believing gives you comfort, and unbelief makes you miserable, so you should choose to believe.

Furthermore, faith is nothing but self-deception, but we all need such self-deception.

This is obviously not the answer I want. To put it mildly, such an answer is too spiritual. In fact, what a person is willing to believe is not the same as what he really believes. As for the writer, he said that he would prefer to believe in the tiger, but would he really believe in the tiger? Is he really able to pick up his faith so easily?

When I talked about this idea to another classmate, she asked a question that left me speechless: So, what kind of answer do you want to see?

How to believe in the existence of a perfect God in this imperfect world and in our imperfect lives? If God is so perfect, why should He make us and our lives so imperfect?

Too many theologians, philosophers, and writers have made their own answers. These answers are clever, delicate, and full of philosophy, but the world has never been satisfied with it. As long as the person still exists, this question will always exist and will always be asked.

So, what do you expect Ang Lee to make in a movie that satisfies you?

I have to admit, this is a particularly remarkable place for Ang Lee. His final answer can satisfy ordinary people and get enough comfort; a believer who is completely indulged in faith will probably laugh away, and a movie can’t shake him anything; the ones who will really be hurt are those who still For people who are vacillating between believing and unbelief, the questions in Ang Lee’s film are enough to resonate with them, but Ang Lee’s final answer makes no sense to them. But this third group of people can't blame Ang Lee at all.

But at least, I know that faith is not a multiple choice question. It is not a simple choice between "faith that can bring peace" and "unbelief that can bring pain." Sometimes choosing a belief is just choosing pain, and true belief will not fear any questioning (not to mention a simple binary choice to avoid questioning).

When I had never been in contact with Christianity, the earliest biblical story I knew was the story of Job, a story that questioned God.

Job is the most pious and God-worshipping person in the world, but because God made a bet with Satan, God allowed Satan to torture Job at will to test Job's faith. Job quickly lost everything: property, relatives, health. Job's friend came to visit him, and Job desperately wanted to live, and asked why God treated him this way? My friends answered Job for God one by one, but they couldn't answer Job's questions.

The climax of the story is that God himself appeared. He used a series of questions to answer Job's questions: Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? I let sunrise and sunset, high tide and high tide, where are you? I make the hippo skin as thick as a copper wall and an iron wall, and the crocodile's teeth are sharp as a knife. Why do you have to ask me? I let lions prey on zebras and bald eagles chase rabbits. Does the zebra ask me why? Did the rabbit ask me why?

Can this answer satisfy Job? I have no idea. But Job finally took it. Because the Creator showed Job his miraculous creation, all these stalwart, magnificent, and strange things and things made Job have to admit his insignificance, so he chose to surrender.

So, in fact, the place that touched me the most by the Youth Group is also there. When the young pie encountered storms and lightning and thunder at sea, he shouted at the extremely beautiful and terrifying side of the world, miracles! This is a miracle! Parker, come out and worship God!

But when Parker flinched at the majesty of lightning, the Boys sent me a remark that moved me even more: God, you took everything from me and made me lose my relatives. I surrender! I surrender! But why do you even scare it (tiger)? What else do you want? What do you want?

I think many believers have gone through such a stage, and many believers have raised questions like the juvenile group. Unfortunately, our life is not a movie, and faith is not a multiple choice question. Not a better story will let us let go of our doubts, and then come to an abrupt end when we are about to wake up.

The bedding is necessary but a bit long. A section of the shipwreck was shocking. The visual effects are amazing. Many interesting shots in the film show the 3D effect ingeniously. The scheduling and shots are arguably more difficult than "Hugo". Uncle An did it. The chemical reaction between humans and tigers, see also Uncle An’s theme of fusion. The most impressive was that the boy jumped into the water, saw the shipwreck in the distance, and then turned and swam back to the scene.
