belly of the whale

(There are spoilers)

about 2/3 of the way into the story, batman was put in this well of a prison where he was eventually to break out from. It was exactly as Joseph Campbell described in "hero with a thousand faces". You'd look pretty hard before you find a more faithful rendition of Campbell's "belly of the whale", into which the hero must enter and from which the hero must re-emerge, ready to take on his final challenge.

it was from this prison that our villains had escaped. I don't have to recommend this movie for, except that the villains had a tender, complex side to them, which made them more relateable than our hero the batman.
