So Trace is not dead, so I think there are only two explanations left.
One: Trace’s head is fake. William, who was always calm, thought it was real when he saw it,

Two: Trace head fake, do not calm after William first seen, but thought a moment and Li Ma

2. The original intention of the murderer is to use his own pioneers to alert the world and fight for the world instead of indulging in it. At the end of the film, William said: the world is a fine place, and worth fighting for. I agree with the second part. He has to fight to make this world a better place. This view coincides with the murderer. Therefore, I think it was William who agreed with some of the murderer's goals and directed the final ending.
