"The Brave" describes a family that fell apart due to alcoholism. As two brothers, Braden (played by Joel Edgerton) and Tommy (played by Tom Hardy), they met again many years later but it was an arena. The ends.

The movie tells the story of two Tommy running away from his mother because of his father (Paddy, played by Nick Knott) drinking too much, but his brother Braden stayed with his father for his wife Tess (played by Jennifer Morrison). After leaving his father, his mother passed away not long after. To make a living Tommy joined the army, while Braden Yutaisi got married because of it, and then became a high school physics teacher. The lives of the two began to withdraw from north to south after they separated, until Tommy returned to the family again decades later.

This kind of fighting-themed movies are actually not a few. From the early familiar "Rocky" and "Bull Bull" to the recent "Burning Souls" or the "Iron Arena" just mentioned earlier, although they are both It is based on boxing, but most of the essence of the story is not simply focusing on the fists and feet, but on the struggle, struggle and growth of the protagonist.

The director Gavin O'Connor is very good at making this type of movie. The "Miracle on Ice", which described the American ice hockey Olympic team movie, once moved me greatly, whether it is the capture of the dynamic camera or the mastery of the rhythm. All are just right. "Miracle" is the favorite theme of the audience, and the story of David vs. Goliath is always exciting. Although the story follows the dual protagonist route, the main axis is still placed on his brother Braden. The original fighter, because he didn't want his girl to watch her beating to make money, so he joined the teaching position, but because of her daughter's medical expenses, he was heavily in debt, faced with the family's upcoming auction, and couldn't stand on the stage again. The role that has never been favored, and finally reached the final with an upset, is the most fascinating part of every inspirational film, but if the movie is only like this, it is only just right. So another branch line, that is, brother Tommy became the best catalyst for the movie.

Tommy, who looks cold and almost ruthless, has always been a fan. The movie did not explain his story clearly at the beginning, but laid out it bit by bit in the film. He has amazing fighting skills and is powerful. His fist splits the enemy instantly like a spear. He is like a beast, always swallowing every opponent with a lion attacking a rabbit, and finally when he confronts Braden, every time he is suffocating. nervous. Tommy, who is regarded as a war hero, has a secret that haunts him. He is burdened with his own guilt, swinging every punch, beating others while expecting to be beaten, the same as Braden. He also looked forward to redemption, and looked forward to saving his soul between being knocked down and being knocked down. Because of this, a tragic role like Tommy is pitiful. The decent role of a villain has become two bright spots that shine together with the protagonist.

After watching the movie for more than two hours, there are no gorgeous special effects, or money shots of big scenes, but it makes people's eyes dizzy. As mentioned earlier, the director has a good grasp of the action scenes. The scene is gorgeous and compact. Coupled with the presentation of the literary play in each paragraph, it also depicts the inner entanglement and struggle of the two male protagonists. The father is the most important role in the literary play, and also outlines Tommy's cold outside and hot inside. Without his father, the emotional drama between the two would not be so profound, although Nick Knott's appearance became the biggest lubricant of this strong movie.

I still remember watching "Iron Arena" a while ago and was deeply moved by the movie, and went into the theater to watch it twice. I have always believed that "Iron Ring" is the best movie of this kind this year, until I watched this movie and I totally changed my mind. If you like boxing movies, don’t miss this one. If you like inspirational movies, this movie is definitely just right.

Warrior quotes

  • Tom Conlon: So you found God, huh? That's awesome. See, Mom kept calling out for him but he wasn't around. I guess Jesus was down at the mill forgiving all the drunks. Who knew?

  • Paddy Conlon: Alright. Alright. But you get something through your skull, too. You called me. So don't go threatening to walk every five minutes. And since this is about training, you dump whatever it is you need to dump as far as those pills are concerned. I don't want to see 'em. In fact, hand 'em over right now. I know they're on you, Tommy. You sounded like a goddamn maraca coming through the door.
