In the Boston Islands in 1954, the description of the eerie mental patient island in the trailer was even more frightening: towering shrubs, cliffs overgrown with poisonous weeds, enclosed castle detention centers, and a typhoon day and night. ..... The detectives Teddy and Chunk, the brothers and sisters of Ruhan, are like stepping into a deep pond. The most frightening thing at this moment is not the dampness and filth that feels, but the invisible bottom of the untouchable pond. Every time the plot advances, I feel a part of my body being torn apart, but I can't see where the blood is flowing, how far is it from the opposite bank, and the only thing that keeps ringing in my ear is the desperate "Shutter Island, there is no way out."
Movies adapted from works have a common problem, that is, the length of the movie cannot be used to express all the essence of writing (the comics are different, the Iron Man movie version is so profoundly haha), but Uncle Martin is naturally superior as a legendary director. There is no way to avoid the indigestion of too much information, so I divide it into three paragraphs like a domino:
1/3: The detective and assistant are bullied by experts on the island, and the latter does not cooperate with the police investigation. In order to find the escaping felon, he almost lost his life, but the defendant was told that the felon had been detained, and the mission ended in a wasteful manner.
The film goes so far as to follow the rules, and the amazing part should be the protagonist's recurring sad memories of his dead wife and the killings experienced when he was an Allied army during World War II; these scenes are cruel and full of gothic gorgeousness. In terms of the content of the film, Huluo Pingyang’s depression of being bullied by a dog is infuriating, and the sympathy points all go to the detective played by the big handsome guy Leonardo: middle-aged bereaved wife, agile and smart. . . Oh, in short, it is really lovely~ Professor Cawley is a stinky bald who is jealous of smart and handsome in my heart! Too much too much~
2/3: The actor's big plan to investigate the shady institutions on the island emerges. When the plan is too perfect, he finds that everything is a scam. The confrontation with the murdered wife and enemy, the unexpected disappearance of his assistant, and the defected female doctor found in the cave made him shudder at the cruelty and extinction of the institution.
The progress of this period is very tense, and many mental patients appear one by one, and the level of horror escalates. The female doctor slowly said that the big conspiracy on this island is even more shocking. Suddenly the significance of the film rose to the height of anti-authoritarian humanitarianism, and the male protagonist became a lonely hero. The audience who turned into a fan club seemed to join him, drove straight to the headquarters of the organization with the determination to destroy the dark boss.
3/3: If it’s pretty cool to knock down the dean in the imprisonment room and blow up the professor’s car, walking into the legendary operation beacon will make you stand upside down: when the professor reveals all the mysteries to the male protagonist , It feels like being smashed by a dropped flowerpot while walking on the road! Just one word of depression!
At the end, I realized that everything in front is like a jigsaw puzzle, piece by piece come together to form the answer. When you think you already know what cruelty is, life will give you a more cruel truth. A huge deep cold hit from the bottom of my heart.
Answer a passage before the actor finally walked into the lighthouse: The
handsome guy said: "I can't stop thinking, do I want to live forever and being treated as a monster, or die as a good saint?" The
written meaning is "You Say I live like a madman all my life, or die like a good person?"
Finally, he chose to go to the lighthouse to be an object of medical research to make his life complete. This is what we Chinese say just right. The ending of such twist is not new from "Sixth Sense" to "Fatal ID". The part I appreciate more is the strict assumption of the first two thirds: as an individual, there is no victory in the battle against the social superstructure. Face, it is obviously hopeless to continue, but if you give up the most basic right of resistance, you will lose your life first.
Finally, I want to say something to those who see this film as a thrilling suspense film, if you ever seen one of Martin Scorsese films, you can't expect the uncle to sing short and fast for you. Full of Film Noir's classic scene settings, details to the film art in the corner of the building, and the heavy ink and color of the film music, his works will be sealed like red wax with his own hot mark. Those who are happy always love it, those who are not happy do not enter. But Hollywood can be called a legendary director, how many are still alive and maintaining production? Students, cherish Uncle Martin.
PS: Leonardo seems to have completely changed the line of middle-aged men since "Road to Revolution", and his acting skills are increasing day by day. The trapped beast in the film is my favorite~ I love handsome guys and I want to grow up with handsome guys and make progress together! muah!
