Let me talk about a few of my own thoughts. First of all, this black stone is connected to the film. It is estimated that most people will have a question after watching the film, what is this thing in the end. The official interpretations of novels and movies tend to be a manifestation of extraterrestrial civilization or higher civilization, but I am more inclined to understand it as a kind of apocalypse or a god’s metaphor. The religious and artistic flavors of this film are extremely strong, and I am not willing to To understand it as a concrete thing, I am more willing to understand it as an artistically idealized symbol. Every appearance of Black Stone represents an evolutionary process of human civilization. The apes began to use tools. The second time gave mankind an opportunity to evolve again, but mankind did not fully accept it. The third time led to the final sublimation. Entered into an evolutionary process of extreme compression. And when it appeared in the universe for the third time, the first thing that flashed through my mind was a huge Bible.
And the last star child, some people say this is evolution, some people say this is reincarnation, my personal understanding is that after the failure of the Jupiter project, David entered an extremely compressed evolutionary process, as if the formation and changes of the entire universe were revealed. Before his eyes, this psychedelic scene appeared similar to the Big Bang, followed by various nebulae and landscapes that looked like landforms. The room in the Louis XVI period was exactly the place where he completed his final evolution. I think this place is somewhat similar to the station between the real world and the virtual world in The Matrix. It does not belong to any space or time. David became a chosen The One and became a prophet. Due to a severely compressed evolutionary process, David grew old quickly in this room. When he was still old, Black Stone appeared again. This time human beings finally stretched out their hands eagerly and greeted this "Apocalypse" like an ape-man. ", thus transformed into a brand-new life image of Star Child, a new Adam or Jesus. The huge star child slowly approached the earth-like object and stared at it (this lens really shocked me a lot). At this time, the star child seems to be a life form beyond civilization on this planet (the theory of evolution, it should be said to be) Similar to God), or re-enter the earth to start a new intelligent civilization (reincarnation theory, that is to become a new Adam), and at this time he himself is already a new "Apocalypse".
The theme of this film is too large, there are too many things, especially the metaphors about Nietzsche's philosophical theory in the film, which are still unclear. Even if the theme is aside, the sound and picture of the film are completely worthy of the title of the greatest sci-fi film in history. Compared with the Matrix, it is still a little insignificant. Even from today’s point of view, the pictures inside are enough to defeat most of today’s science fiction films, and this is actually a work shot 40 years ago. I can only sigh that it was really a lot of effort to create the picture at that time. We see Each of the pictures is so detailed and exquisite, it is by no means as cheap as today's computer stunts.
John Lennon said that he likes this film so much that he has to watch it every week, and after watching the first time, I have been eager to remember the classic scenes in the film. This is probably another movie that I can watch a lot of obsessively. Films over and over.
I am a staunch atheist, but I tend to understand this film from a religious perspective.
PS: The cover of the restored version is too beautiful, much better than the original mechanized cover.
