This movie shows a kind of predicament that people face when they face emotions. Joey loves Clementine and can’t erase her from his memory, but in reality the two people continue to contradict each other. The longer they get along, the longer they get along. The less love is like a kind of happiness, it's more like a kind of torture. But what to do? Just as they couldn't help being enamored with each other, Joey couldn't let Clay leave.
The ending is very warm, Joey understands the reality they have to face, but still wants to experience it. Seeing this, there is a kind of relief. There is really no logic at all in the memory, no matter how deep or secret you want to hide it, but once he strikes suddenly, the sequence, flashbacks, interruptions... plus some assumptions and assumptions that never happened. Fantasy, in fact, is just as intricate as the film’s narrative technique.
At a certain midnight dream moment, a certain call of the same name and a certain surname, a certain string of numbers inscribed in the heart, a relationship from the warmth and sweetness of the first acquaintance to the later disappointment and struggle, pieces of memory puzzles are scattered in the heart like this. Picking up or putting it down, when every recollection is hurtful, carrying the pain and choosing to leave, slowly forgetting, this may be the choice of most people.
However, after the piercing pain, do you have the courage to choose not to forget it?
