Voyeurism is terrible

"Rear Window" is one of the masterpieces of Hitchcock's mid- and late-stage suspense films. Although the whole film did not make me feel terrible, as a film released in 1954, I have to admit that Hitchcock is an outstanding master of suspense. It can be described as ingenious in making the film's suspenseful effect.

The film tells the story of a news photographer who suffered a broken left leg in an accident. He was bored all day long sitting at the window and looking at life through the window of his neighbor's house. After a neighbour’s murder came into his sight, under more focused and detailed voyeurism, the actor and his girlfriend finally obtained evidence from various clues to solve the murder.

The film is also interspersed with various details of life plots to pave the way. Although it does not have a big impact on the development of the main plot, it has a very good literary effect.

The actor James Stewart has a performance in the film, which I appreciate very much. After his girlfriend was taken away by the police, he kept his voice down in a dark room and talked to the police chief's friend on the phone to inform him of the case. The burglary and hurried voice matched his expression and gestures, and I thought he acted very well.

The murderer broke into the actor's room door, wanting to kill him, which made me feel a little nervous. But the plot arrangement was a coincidence, the rescue came in time, and the murderer was arrested after a false alarm. It's a coincidence that it's just like this.

The image of the heroine in the film, I personally think it is the best girlfriend image that men must have. Go to the kitchen, go to the hall. Beautiful and elegant, smart and capable, independent thinking, bold and careful, and even able to help his boyfriend find all kinds of evidence in a murder case, and know how to deal with it in a critical moment.

I especially like the image of her wearing a printed dress in the film. It was the dress she wore when she went to the garden and the murderer's house to find evidence. Grace Kelly's temperament is very good, such a beauty, it is also worth being the princess of Monaco.

The film is said to have allegorical meaning, alluding to the dark side of human nature that likes to peep. I didn't examine this carefully, different people have different personalities. However, the satisfaction of voyeurism is nothing, because many things, the more you know, the more tired you may be in life.

In short, it is a movie worth watching. But don't use a modern eye to criticize the concept and method of shooting, otherwise it will be hard to lose its reputation. After all, it was a film in the 1950s, and in that era, it was definitely a good film.
