Generally speaking, I don’t like to watch the same movie several times in a row, because that would reduce the interest of the movie, but I actually watched this movie 3 times in succession, every time I secreted adrenal glands... The
movie has been parallel to Mrs. Goldfarb and his son Harry had two lines. There is no doubt that both sides are on the margins of society. On one side is the lonely and lacking social awareness of the hanging old man; on the other side is the son with no ideals and mental emptiness, including Harry's lovers and friends.
Mrs Goldfarb lives alone, and every day is full of junk TV shows, high-fat, high-calorie foods, and all kinds of garbage symbols that are boring and fun. Due to the strong need for social cognition, Mrs Goldfarb indulged in the vulgar TV SHOW, lost weight for this, and eventually fell into drug dependence and was out of control. The camera is constantly switching rapidly, switching, TV, refrigerator, junk food, specifically outlines the helpless elderly poisoned by the junk culture.
Harry and Marion, like all young people, have a strong and pure love, but the separated shots of the two whispering, and the invisible red Marion that appeared in front of Harry twice, make people feel this kind of love. Full of dislocation and illusion. Drugs mercilessly laughed at the two men who were full of longing for a beautiful love.
White flour, money, needles, injections, and pupils are constantly interspersed with fast editing, coupled with laughter, cash register sounds, groans, inhalation and other sound effects that constantly stimulate our nerves. Of course, the same technique was also used by Mrs Goldfarb to turn on the TV, open the mailbox, take medicine, and so on. The film narrates junk culture, drug abuse, etc. and drugs in parallel and symmetrical.
A series of fast shots and the following shots of the characters from the front continuously show the alienation of the characters. And slowly began the process of gradually concretizing the abstraction of the characters' inner feelings, with the perfect background music, leading us to the final climax. Repeatedly switching between the painful manifestations of several people, directly and without concealment, makes me feel pain and pleasure...
They are the people on the margins of society, they are hunted by the law of the jungle on the margins of society, and those with weak mentality are those who are weak. To be taken away by this law, eliminated from the spirit and even the body.
The director unceremoniously slapped modern people. At least I slapped me, and I want to ask humbly, when will you come again next time?
