All deeds are impermanent, all errors are suffering, all dharmas have no self, and Nirvana is silent. Not everyone can reach the state of Nirvana and silence, because not everyone can let go, Ivan can't let go, because he has love in his heart, love for family and friends, and even more for Kelly.
I watched the director’s extended version, but I’m still willing to treat this film as a romance.
In the face of fate, people seem so fragile and small. Few people dare to truly fight against fate. In fact, Ivan didn't have this idea at all. What he wanted was to live his life peacefully, go to college like a normal person, become a psychologist after graduation, and don't be imprisoned in a lunatic asylum like his father. But after he went to visit Kelly and brought back childhood memories and awakened his love for Kelly, under the torment of losing his love, he finally determined to use his ability to change the past and change Kelly's destiny again.
So he tried to change again and again, but each change always happened with an accident, and things got worse. The most impressive thing is the conversation between Kelly and Kelly in the café during the fate of Kelly becoming a prostitute. When Kelly looked at him with the eyes of her benefactor, and ridiculed him, and never trusted him at all, I believe that Yi Wan's heart must be extremely painful. This kind of pain is unspeakable pain; this kind of pain is the pain that you deeply love a person but is misunderstood by the other person; this kind of pain is the pain that you use to love her and protect her with all your strength, but it brings her The pain is hurt. Shi is also fate, Shi obedient fate, and husband reluctantly, most people in life can only sigh a few words "If God gives me another chance", and then walk alone in the years to come, occasionally sad.
However, the charm of the movie lies in this. In the end, Ivan finally learned from his father that to save Kelly's fate, he could only sacrifice himself and play God once. So he resolutely chose to strangle himself with an umbilical cord before he was born. This ending is very dramatic, and may even make people feel funny, but it makes me have an urge to cry. Not moved by the plot, but by the reality. In real life, we often want to sacrifice ourselves to change the past to make the people we love live better and not available. We can only let the love that can no longer express and the hatred of destiny be burned and frozen in our hearts time and time again. Suffering from the torment of ice and fire.
I want to play God and change something. Everyone has such a time. Because we do wrong things and miss too many things in our destiny, there is always no way to perfect life. But the finiteness of human beings destined that we cannot be God unless we have not come into this human world at all. This is the eternal sorrow of human beings. When this sorrow is so heavy that we can't bear it, or we can use this drama to numb ourselves, without arguing whether it is a fairy tale or a science fiction.
