Unsurpassable classic

Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.

Monsters are real, and so are demons. They live in us, and sometimes they beat us.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of The Shining.

A classic horror film directed by Kubrick, the original novel is Stephen King.

After watching the movie, you may feel: This plot is not terrible, and the plot is a bit brain-burning.

But as a classic of horror films, this movie has been talked about by countless fans, and it must have his unique charm. I think the greatness of "The Shining" lies in his shooting technique, the way he creates suspense, and the social and psychological problems reflected in the terrorist incident.

Write about my interpretation of the movie

2

shining, shining, can be understood as the sixth sense of supernatural

Black chefs have this talent, and the little boy Danny also has this talent. And this kind of talent is genetically possible, and Danny's parents more or less have the shining ability.

3

The front of the movie is all foreshadowing, which may seem lengthy, but it is very important.

The male host family of three went to the Denver lookout hotel (overlook) to help them guard the hotel during their long winter closure. The hero is a writer, and this kind of work can provide him with a long-term and comfortable writing environment.

But when I think about it, it’s very strange. For five months, a family of three lived in a closed and empty hotel, and they might still be trapped on the mountain after the snow came. What if the child is sick, what if there is an emergency? Normal parents should be worried, but they don't. This also reflects the selfishness of the hero Jack, and the weakness and obedience of the heroine. This is also reflected in the dialogue in a family of three cars.

Jack once hurt his son Danny due to alcoholism. On the surface, Danny messed up his manuscripts. The deep reason is that the family puts pressure on his work; Danny has a talent for shining, but he does not tell his parents; the hostess has been hurt because of Jack. Danny, has mistrust of him deep in his heart. These are the internal contradictions of this family. Looking at the hotel is like a magnifying glass, exacerbating these contradictions.

However, no contradiction will erupt immediately, so the climax of the story started one month after they settled in the hotel.

4

The angle, composition, and soundtrack of the film can be regarded as classics.

The lookout hotel is very large, and the family of three is very small in it. This empty shot gives people a sense of dignity. Even normal activities are accompanied by deep, tight music, which makes us sweat.

Including males mainly writing in the empty hall, and female protagonists going to the huge kitchen to fetch meals, behind these huge scenes are their lonely souls.

The three people often act separately, which shows their sense of distance from each other.

And when they met: husband and wife were gentle because of breakfast, and quarreling because of manuscripts, which reflected their dependence in life and tension in work pressure; Danny was nervous when he was with his father, and when he was with his mother. Happiness embodies his different trust in his parents. You must know that Danny has the shining.

There is a mirror in the bedroom. This mirror is the best idea in the movie. This mirror not only creates new ideas for the composition of the picture, but also reflects the relationship between husband and wife, father and son, and mother and son.

Mirror for the first time: At 11:30 in the morning, the hostess brought breakfast to the host. Sleeping until 11:30, you can still open your mouth with food. It can be seen that the male protagonist is comfortable in family status and the female protagonist's obedience to him. From the picture of the two people, it is still relatively harmonious at this time, and the opposition is not abrupt.

Mirror second time: Danny went to get a car at the house price and met his father.

The father in reality and the father in the mirror (the father who can be seen and the father who can not be seen) put the little boy in between. It reflects the tension in their relationship and the helplessness of the boy.

After that, when Jack held Danny. Danny asked if he would hurt the mother and son? Jack said: I will never hurt you.

In the movie, Jack often lied (more on that later), so he said at this time that I would not hurt, just to pave the way for him to hurt the mother and son later.

Mirror for the third time: This is arguably the most terrifying shot in the movie.

Danny's Shining, through the mirror, alarmed the heroine. He didn't directly say "MURDER", but kept saying "REDRUM", which in turn was murder, and the mirror happened to remind the hostess of these words in reverse.

Don't say it directly, it just reflects the relationship between mother and child. Danny cares about his mother, but he doesn't know how to say something. The mother cared for Danny, but many times, she did not understand her son.

Tell Jack's lie.

Jack lied frequently in the movie, which is also a manifestation of his inner contradiction. These contradictions eventually became the internal cause for him to be used by the undead of the hotel to become a murderer.

Promise that the hotel manager will take care of the hotel. In fact, the work is done by the wife.

On the grounds of writing, he refused to accompany his wife and children to play, but he played pitching in the hall (later the ball rolled in front of his son inexplicably, causing him to go to room 237). Tell his wife to go to bed, but actually sit in a daze on the bed. Tell his wife that he is writing, in fact, he writes "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". These inner complaints are even arranged according to the paragraphs of the novel.

He promised that his wife would stop drinking, but was willing to sell his soul for a glass of wine.

He promised that his son would not harm mother and son, but he was hunting and killing him with an axe.

These lies are a manifestation of his inner contradiction. He is an unsuccessful writer, otherwise why would he drag his family to work in this isolated hotel? He bears the responsibility of supporting the family. His wife and son are his invisible source of stress, but he has no inspiration and is forced to pretend in the hotel lobby day after day. When there was nowhere to vent, he raised his glass and went into madness. Flies don't bite seamless eggs, and the souls of the hotel confuse him because of his mental illness.

Jack Nicholson gave a crazy performance in the movie. From the initial sunny self-confidence to melancholy and reticent, and then from perplexity to madness and slaughter, his eyes, his expression, and his temperament gradually changed.

6

In addition to Jack Nicholson, other people’s performances are also remarkable, the two twin sisters (they are obviously 8 years old and 10 years old, Spielberg’s "Number One Player" also pays tribute to the Shining "), the last time the watchman, the strange bar waiter, all perfectly set off the atmosphere.

The little boy's acting skills are particularly superb, especially when switching back to Shining Tony and constantly Redrum, Redrum...it is a pity that he is not acting later.

The heroine's big melancholic eyes, running in horror, completely set off the horror atmosphere.

The most regrettable thing was the black chef who gave away his head from thousands of miles away, took a plane and drove a car, and was hacked to death by Jack. Fortunately, he left the snowmobile.

I thought there would be a lot of stories about the last family, and even revealed the motives why the last guardian would kill, but they didn't have many scenes in the family. The twin sisters, the bathtub beauties, kept pushing Jack's inner demon's last guard, that's it.

Picture frame on the wall and ghost hotel

Multiple shots of the film were given to the frame on the wall, and they all flashed past. Only the last shot, constantly zooming in, we saw Jack wearing a suit and tuxedo, gathering with everyone in the golden hall. And this day is the Independence Day of the United States.

Some people guess that people who have killed or died will appear in this photo frame. I am more inclined, this is Jack's previous life. This is why he can talk to the waiter in the bar of the Golden Hall, and he will inadvertently shining back to his previous life.

The dead are indeed in the frame, so this has always been a ghost hotel, just like we did not zoom in to see the frame, the living people ignore the existence of the dead.

This huge hotel is built on the tombs of Indians, and it reflects that the civilization of American society is built on the basis of slaughtering Indians. And Room 237, the source of evil, reflects the bloody massacre of Indians for 237 days.

So my understanding is that the bloody incident occurred because the dead of the Indians were at work.

Regardless of the former guardian or the current Jack, the grievances of Room 237 (Indians) are digging out their inner evil. On a deeper level, the prosperity of American society is like a coveted cocktail party (sometimes with skulls and spider webs, without souls), but this prosperity is built on the corpses of Indians (so blood is pouring in the corridors), so immoral. There is darkness hidden in the civilization of 237 (Indians), so the resentment of 237 (Indians) constantly digs into the darkness inside to create bloody and violent incidents again and again to complete revenge.

8

A good movie should be like a maze, allowing you to keep exploring.

Jack excuses that writing is not worthy of his wife and son to play. When the mother and son are playing in the real maze, Jack also looks at the maze model in the lobby.

In the snowy night afterwards, he chased Danny frantically in the maze with an axe, but finally got trapped in the maze, frozen into an ice sculpture, how ironic.

The movie I watched during the epidemic is in the quarantine period. Facts have proved that people will go crazy if they are kept in a sealed environment for a long time, and various contradictions will be more likely to break out. Thinking of this, I sympathize with the birds in the cage.

Having said that, who is not a caged bird?
