According to the general understanding, this is a tragic film. The two male protagonists (three to be precise) have tragic characters and endings, but relatively speaking, Burton always has the upper hand. Win more. But in my opinion, the director's arrangement of the two roles is very unfair, and Burton deserves more hatred. Because everything started from Burton’s desire for magic, he changed Angel’s wife’s wrist binding method without permission, which directly led to the death of Angel’s wife. After Angel's wife died, no matter how many reasons he had, he should apologize to his partner, but stubbornly said that he didn't know. This paranoid attitude is the beginning of the whole incident. And his stubborn life in magic with his twin brother not only led to the death of his wife, but also made Olivia an abominable traitor, and did not lead a happy life.
In contrast, even though Angel liked magic at the beginning, he did not have such an attitude of willingness to do anything for magic. He was more willing to live a happy life with his beautiful wife. I really like the detail of him kissing his wife's legs when he tied her feet. This kind of uncontrollable love is very pleasant. One can imagine the anger and pain in his heart when his lover was taken away by the mistake of this guy Burton. Although his subsequent revenge behavior escalated, and he gradually lost himself in this continuous pursuit of magic, and even designed to kill Burton, I prefer to understand his behavior as being driven by the initial anger. Fighting for your lover is an act worthy of appreciation.
I hate what Burton said to Angel at the end. Angel was willing to sacrifice his substitute for magic. He lost his wife, Olivia, and his only life. Burton was not qualified to say such cruel words to him again. But since the director and screenwriter arranged this way, I can't help it. I resolutely defend the creative rights of the director and screenwriter, but I also resolutely want to express that I strongly support Angel and strongly hate Burton.
The quality of the film itself is good, but because of my emotional relationship, it's okay to give it only. Ha ha
