The young dreams that he discovered and did after he became an adult are all compatible with each other. In the end of the film, Jim laughs at himself and his drunken life is gone forever. It can be said that he is self-willed and degenerate, but it is not the free flow in his bones.
We admire the desire for freedom, but often lose self-discipline in excessive freedom, and eventually become extra-legal fanatics, like the simple and neat three words in the opening title: good fellow
