Why is Star Wars a classic?

I finally finished watching the six parts. A 2020 viewer was almost dismissed for several times because of the slightly younger plot and the thin characters. Of course, even the first three films were already top-notch in terms of shooting and production in the specific circumstances at the time.

Looking at it as a whole, Lucasfilm has built a majestic interstellar world with more than ten hours of space. This is of course very remarkable, but the biggest reason that really allows this movie to last forever is to shape Anakin. (Darth Vader) The male protagonist of one of the most famous tragedies in film history. Someone might say, isn’t it because he created a fascinating interstellar world-of course not, this world is not so complicated and delicate. Human beings have the ability to create a certain world view since ancient times. The people of ancient Greece say According to word of mouth, the beautiful and magical lives of the gods living on Mount Olympus have been told. It is very interesting to look at the "Star Wars" series from the perspective of contemporary mythology-the vast majority of contemporary people no longer pay attention to Greek mythology, Norse mythology, or even our own mythology. At this time, like "Star Wars" Such a film with world influence and strong enough popularity and circumstance played the role of myth. The origin of myth is the limitation of human cognition of the world. Therefore, the ancient Greeks imagined the movie on Mount Olympus. The gods, imagined that there are gods controlling the sun and gods controlling the moon-modern people's understanding of the universe is far from enough, so we imagined the fascinating interstellar life, there are Jedi and Sith, there are Luke and Anakin . These people-or these supermen, tell us what is good, what is evil, what is beautiful, and what is ugly. He tells us that everything comes from "the original force", and the original force can not only bring everything back to balance, but also go to the dark side and destroy everything. From this perspective, it is very appropriate to call "Star Wars" a "contemporary myth."

When the end of "Avengers" came out, a young audience said: "Our generation finally has our own "Star Wars"!" Is this really the case? From the perspective of a film type, yes, both have a huge worldview and a huge world influence, but return to the content of the film itself-if you have to ask me, which series is better? Although I love the Women's Federation, I still want to say that "Star Wars" is better. The overall rhythm, expression, and technical capabilities of the Women’s Federation are more in line with the intuition and habits of viewing movies of our time. But looking back at the Women’s Federation, we can’t find a consistent one, nor can we find a tragic character like Anakin. May the Force be with you" is so romantic, in the second stage, and at the same time with some unknowable lines of mysterious power, except for the song Iron Man by AD/DC, I can’t recall any passage written for the characters. Just like the music of Darth Vader...All in all, in my opinion, it is also a product of the film industry, but "Star Wars" has a simple, rough and different kind of poetry. And the feeling of poetry, I haven't felt it for a second when looking at more than twenty films of the Women's Federation Universe.

Of course, there are of course many regrets about this work, but what puzzles me most is the change of Anakin. By the time of the third part of the prequel, Anakin finally decided to join the Sith camp. This is of course the most critical and colorful chapter in the movie. In fact, the movie has been faintly laying out Anakin since the beginning of this series. There is a clue to the extraordinary and the heart of the tiger. Unfortunately, even with so much space, there is still a slight discomfort at the moment of the real change. From an intuitive point of view, the core reason is that the director (screenwriter) wanders when looking for the direct cause of the change for him: Is it to save his wife, or is he completely successfully instigated and believes the speaker's lies? If only the former is the reason, it will be more clear and credible, but it is impossible to be satisfied in the creation. Although Anakin’s change will appear reasonable in this way, it will be simple and thin at the same time. In other words, if this is the case Doing so will seriously hurt this character, and his hidden ambitions and desires (this is his core trait) will be aimless. So the creator found two reasons: because of his wife, he was instigated, and the audience would be confused. The intuitive reaction was: huh? How did he go bad? It's too fast. In fact, the creators spent more than ten hours on this, haha, but there was some shaking on the most critical plot point that made the audience feel this way. Throughout the great works in the history of literature and drama, no protagonist has done an important thing, or made an important decision for two reasons. Hamlet wants revenge, even if he sees this dirty world later, I want to fight against it, but the source of all motivation comes from revenge. Othello killed Desdemona because of suspicion. Even the protagonist of "Crime and Punishment" Ras Kolnikov killed the old woman-note that this is a complex and profound psychoanalytic novel. There is only one reason-he believes in the "Superman" philosophy. No matter what others think, it seems to me that the erratic and sway of the creator is a serious failure of this great series of films.

Of course, as a commercial blockbuster, such problems are not so fatal. Moreover, there is still a big logic of "fear to anger" helping the audience to accept. He is afraid of losing his lover and being not trusted by the elders. So finally to the dark side... Darth Vader is the most charming villain in the history of movies. Years later, when we all become old men, old ladies, once again hear the familiar Darth Vader music, I must be able to recall my youthful years, I can recall the sentence: May the force be with you.

The (relatively speaking) emphasis on the intricacies of clues and psychological changes has squeezed out the display of the main planet (ecosystem) in each episode, and the war scene is the real peak. I dare not say that Lu is always a master of storytelling, but the last sunset/sunrise is already shocking.

That's great. It is an epic magnificent collection. In addition, there is no doubt that R2 is the protagonist.

  • Padmé: What if the democracy we thought we were serving no longer exists, and the Republic has become the very evil we have been fighting to destroy?

  • The Emperor: [to Darth Vader] Every single Jedi, including your friend Obi-Wan, is now an enemy of the Republic. Do what must be done. Do not hesitate. Show no mercy.
