The rhythm of this movie is too tight~ The plot becomes uncontrollable before it reacts~ The latter half of the story is promoted in a narrative way. To be honest, if you don't appreciate the plot, you really don't have much patience to watch. Henry, who was born in a city with a high crime rate, has admired the underworld business since he was a child, and gave up his studies to follow a few older brothers. Meet Jimmy and Tommy, big shots at the time. Once he was arrested for selling smuggled cigarettes and went to court, but in fact, the judge was bribed and exiled like a glorious one, and was recognized by the gangsters. Adult Henry and Tommy met Kelly when they went out in the nightclub. They fell in love, Kelly was often harassed by perverted neighbors, and Henry, who couldn't see it, beat him violently. So the two ushered in the wedding of life. The trio of gangs are thriving, and an older brother who can't understand them even speaks sarcastically. The three seem to be fine, who knows that the Queen of Autumn will settle the accounts and beat the elders to death. It didn't take long for Henry Apricot to go out of the wall and have a secret lover, which caused his wife to sink into the house every day, and even threatened Henry with a gun at him while he was asleep. The reconciliation of the last two eldest brothers was able to temporarily calm down. As the gang boss became arrogant and arrogant, he beat a receptionist into a hornet's nest when he didn't agree with him, which caused Jimmy to be angry and order him to handle the corpse carefully. After a while, the three of them were beaten up. A mob, the sister of the mob was an FBI clerk and had to be sentenced to jail, but they were as comfortable as magnifying a fake while in prison. Four years later, a big robbery organized by Jimmy was a perfect success, and the amount of robbery amounted to 6 million U.S. dollars. Let them have a heavenly Christmas in triumph. At the Christmas banquet, Jimmy kept telling his subordinates not to be public, and accused a kid who bought a famous car. Soon the crime of money controlled Jimmy’s humanity. Jimmy was afraid that those who asked him for money all day would say it, so he killed them one by one. Quit the mouth. The room leaked in the night rain, and Tommy, who was promoted to the Mafia, was killed by the Mafia because of his conduct. Henry entered the downhill of his life at this time. Arrested for drug trafficking ~ His wife used a house mortgage to release Henry on bail. Henry was desperate to ask Jimmy for money. Suspicious Jimmy suspected that Henry would be convicted of his own design and framed Henry, and Henry quickly realized the danger. He could only rely on FBI personnel, and the FBI offered generous conditions to ask him to testify against Jimmy and the other boss. Classic gangster movie, the lens is very emotional. In an environment where there is no morality but only benefits, you may be betrayed by your brothers at any time, terrible...

I found the similarities between Scorsese and Wes Anderson: strong narration is needed, pleasure comes from restlessness and impatience; fear of images leads to anti-falseness, boundary situations are pulled back to daily life, and "truth" is prompted in unexpected ways, but Has been absorbed before being discovered.

Goodfellas quotes

  • Henry Hill: [narrating] All they got from Paulie was protection from other guys looking to rip them off. That's what it's all about. That's what the FBI can never understand - that what Paulie and the organization offer is protection for the kinds of guys who can't go to the cops. They're like the police department for wiseguys.

  • Henry Hill: [narrating] Paulie may have moved slow, but it was only because Paulie didn't have to move for anybody.
