Female perspective

I can't feel the slightest sigh of the so-called fighting for freedom. As a woman, the first instinct to watch a full movie is discomfort, or even nausea.

I cannot ignore my own feelings, so I have to say something.

The whole movie is actually taking the first night rights to women as the freedom of the whole society. This is just a touch of men talking about themselves. When the first night rights of women are regarded as a tool for freedom and liberation, women no longer exist. They are only used as a foil. They have no freedom, because that freedom does not belong to them, but to them.

Shouldn't true freedom mean that women also have control over their own sex? If you want to express social freedom, shouldn't it mean that women have control over their bodies?

However, what this film expresses is that the first night right of men to women is freedom.

Although I understand that this is a common problem in all ancient movies, and it is also due to historical reasons, I still feel very uncomfortable, especially when I see that in today's society, there are so many people who recognize and tout this kind of thinking.

When I was young, I always liked to rob TV with my older brother. I shared this one with rare opinions. I've seen it many times, and the most impressive part is the last part where he was digging his heart. Some time ago, I accidentally saw a documentary about MEL GIBSON before I realized that the male lead was the director.

Freedom, freedom ------- I will die for you. I really don't care about the result, at least I am trying to do that

Braveheart quotes

  • Hamish: There's somebody coming.

Campbell: MacGregors from the next clan.

MacGregor: We heard about what was happenin' and don't want you "Amadans" thinkin' you can have your fun without us.

William Wallace: Go home. Some of us are in this; can't help that, now. But you can help yourselves. Go home.

MacGregor: We'll have no homes left when the English garrison from the castle comes through and burns us out. And they will!

[Wallace motions for the MacGregors to join them]

  • Robert the Bruce: I'm not a coward. I want what you want, but we need the nobles.

    William Wallace: We need them?

    Robert the Bruce: Aye.

    William Wallace: Nobles.

    [laughs a little]

William Wallace: Now tell me, what does that mean to be noble? Your title gives you claim to the throne of our country, but men don't follow titles, they follow courage. Now our people know you. Noble, and common, they respect you. And if you would just lead them to freedom, they'd follow you. And so would I
