To the light in the darkness.

The DVD of the film slept in my drawer for a long time, until I finally took it out that night.

I knew in advance that this was a film about the future, so I also thought about the possibility of its science fiction blockbuster. However, the facts surprised me: the future world is not much different from the present world, and the messy streets are still so messy, and there are no cars that go into the sky, or even if there are, there are only a few people. How realistic this world looks.

From the beginning, the film made clear its theme: about whether human beings can continue. Unexplained sterilization, no cause was given in the end, but various possibilities were mentioned in the middle, which is what people in the world are doing today. No wonder people say that the director has a cautious plan.

In my opinion, Alfonso has carried out his own imagination according to the development of mankind, and listed the worst but possible situations. The whole film is shrouded in haze, and everything in the future seems to be terrible. Not only are there no children, there are refugee camps like World War II, and various anti-government organizations. The world is in chaos. However, even so, it still cannot conceal the director's human instinct, longing for light and hope.

Kee removed his clothes in the barn and showed theo his chubby belly. This scene reminded me of the coming of Jesus. This is the child that the entire human race is looking forward to, the child of the entire human race, and the key to the continuation of the human race. Although her birth cannot save the entire human world at all, it is at least a real hope.

Theo and Kee had a bumpy adventure along the way, just because they had to entrust her to the "Human Project" who didn't show her face until the end. This is the main line of the film, so no matter how sinister and dark the environment is, the overall film is always bright. However, the director’s meticulous settings throughout also give the viewer space for self-imagination, especially the "Tomorrow" and the "Human Project" are true or not, depending on the viewer's own judgment. After looking at it, I have a lot of negative opinions. I was also a negative person. But this time, I would rather believe that it is true.

Alfonso Cuarón's pessimistic thinking about the future of mankind, the film is very particular about many details, including the application of long shots, no trace of special effects, and some scenes containing rich information. However, the expression of the obscure theme is destined to not be a too successful commercial film.

[A-] I think there is no need for such allegorical science fiction films to be overly entangled with the logical bugs in their stories. The really interesting part of this kind of themes is that they portray various extremes in an extreme environment. Psychological activities and social phenomena convey the core of their thoughts in the form of fables. In this regard alone, "Son of Humanity" can already be regarded as a leader in this category. On the other hand, Alfonso Cuarón used his unique audio-visual language and extremely abnormal long shots to inject the soul into the story, truly using every tiny piece of information in the picture to tell the story. This alone is enough to make the film Directly advanced from the level of "good film" to "magic film".
