Pan tells you that everyone has a
bloody fairy tale of a charm labyrinth in their hearts . The charm labyrinth
Pan-what is it? The dictionary says-[Greece] half-man, half-sheep, god of mountain forest and animal husbandry; noisy and chaotic.
In the real world, Ophelia, a lonely and sensitive girl, enters the magical world and encounters God Pan by chance. Pan Shen said that she is the daughter of the moon, a princess who accidentally went missing. Since then, the little girl has embarked on an incredible adventure.
I make a "recommended disc" once a month. This time I went to the disc shop with my girlfriends, and we accepted all the Oscar-winning films. Tongtian Pagoda, Peerless Beauty Queen, Queen, and Last Dictator have all seen one by one, leaving only a "Pan God's Labyrinth". For this R-rated movie, I have been mentally prepared for a long time, but I still open one eye and close one eye when watching a few shocking scenes. What do you want to tell us about this film that resembles the Spanish painter Goya's black series of oil paintings?
Fairy tales, unsuitable for children
Who has no fairy tales in childhood? Crystal shoes, Little Red Riding Hood, Big Bad Wolf, and white snow, all the stories about the beauty, nourish the child's childishness and innocence.
When describing "Pan's Labyrinth", director Toro also used the word "fairy tale".
As a fairy tale, "Pan God" is undoubtedly an alternative. What he unearths is not a prince and princess-style romantic story, but the dark atmosphere, cruel humanity and perverted atmosphere that permeates the entire film. In the story, the piercing character "Pan God" is the god of mountains and forests and animal husbandry in Roman mythology. He is not only the spirit in charge of the forest land, but also the embodiment of desire, and at the same time the person who guides Ophelia to escape her loneliness.
The film takes us to Spain in 1944, where the fascist dictatorship and the civil war are full of haze. Ofelia Ofelia, a 12-year-old girl, came to the countryside of northern Spain with her mother Carmen Carmen and stepfather Captain Francisco Franco. The stepfather is a bastard, rude and cruel. The only pleasure of this fascist officer is to mutilate and slaughter the captured democrats and dissidents.
Ruthless stepfather, sick mother. Poor Ophelia began to masturbate by immersing herself in her fantasies. The fairy tale world is where girls should go. One day Ophelia was attracted by a dragonfly-like elf, and followed the elf to discover a mysterious maze under the army headquarters. The gatekeeper of the labyrinth, Pan Shen, a half-orc with goat horns and transparent eyes, is waiting for her arrival. The mysterious realm in the fantasy does exist.
Pan reveals the true identity of Ophelia. She is actually a princess who accidentally got lost and the daughter of Moon. In that lost country, her father and mother were waiting for her. But to return to his kingdom, three challenges must be completed before the full moon. When Ophelia took over the task, the demon stepfather was also on the ground with horror and murder. The nightmare on the ground, the fairy tale underground, embrace each other for a while.
The darkest night, the brightest light
in the film guide Ophelia, this "lost princess" to return to the magic world is god Pan. In fact, it is not this half-sheep monster, the ugly gatekeeper of the Moon Kingdom, that makes the girl's fantasy go further and further, but the real world and the girl's heart. Anxiety and loneliness are nightmares in the world, and blood and coldness are the description of stepfather. Director Guillermo de Toro, the director of "Blade Warrior 2" and "Hell Boy", known as the "psychedelic" exported from Mexico to Hollywood, created the "Black Book" that is more than the thriller series A more evil type of horror.
Toro's visionary world is different from "The Lord of the Rings", "Dragon Knight", and "Black Book". It does not rely on majestic shock to win, but lies in the creation of a gloomy atmosphere and the strange and terrifying details. The plot of the story is bizarre and tortuous, the character modeling and the texture of the picture are very particular, revealing the beauty of charming evil. Reality + magic, and the moral decree at the end, make "Pan's Labyrinth" a classic of alternative "fairy tales".
The confrontation between evil and kindness, the greetings of death and survival, the structure of reality and escape, reminds me of "Sky Tower", a film also written by a Mexican director. This line of words is typed on the ending subtitle of "Tong Tian Pagoda"-the darkest night, the brightest light. This sentence can also be used as a footnote to "Pan's Labyrinth." Isn't it the same thing? Both films are derived from biblical stories and ancient legends, and both tell people's hope in despair, the warmth and light in the dark night. The unique literary and artistic temperament and top-level suspense manufacturing, coupled with the sophisticated visual sense, finally shattered my usual "Oscar" discrimination.
What is the light that allows us to preserve hope in the dark night? Is it the Tower of the Sky, a childhood story, or Ophelia's childlike heart that refuses to let innocent people be harmed? Everyone has a fairy tale in his heart, and there is light in every dark night.
