Theo and Moses

I bought this film for two months and I haven't watched it. Because even though I have a good impression of Clive Owen, I have long lost interest in apocalyptic themes, both soft and hard science fiction. As a result, I almost missed it.
Although this apocalyptic movie has "deep apocalyptic feelings" as the introduction says, there are no aliens, no nuclear wars, no terminator, no Ebola virus, but because mankind has been sterile for 20 years and has lost the future. .
Although the movie has a sensational hero, it is not the traditional Hollywood hero who is omnipotent or moral (not personality). To put it bluntly, this hero is simply a humble bastard. Also a Mexican, Alfonso Cuaron did not use the perspective of "outside the Three Realms" like Alejandro González Iñárritu in "Babel" to make a movie. The protagonist Theo was almost timid, withdrawn, and hesitant during the entire escape journey, only at the end. No hesitation when you come to the door. Because of this, the movie has shown more light in a bunch of so-called humanity blockbusters with accents.
Alfonso is also very rough, without concealing blood and despair. The gun battle in the refugee camp in the second half is like a documentary, smooth and shocking. The most brilliant, or the most sensational part, is undoubtedly the shocked look of British soldiers and refugees when Theo takes his mother and daughter down the stairs of the dilapidated house, like the "new life defeats death" as the coroner said in "Final Destination 2". . Although Theo said that there was no hope in this world before human infertility, but the real hope always comes when there is nothing left.
And the boat that saves the mother and daughter at the end of the film is simply a Noah boat carrying human hope. Although Alfonso cheesy killed the hero here, the "Tomorrow" across the sea is still shocking.
The soundtrack of the movie, in addition to soul and blues, is undoubtedly the best missed Britpop at the end of the day.
Finally, a joke, Theo's evasiveness in the cow shed reminds me of Moses who rejected Jehovah over and over again. However, if Moses were allowed to do such a dangerous thing without the help of Jehovah, he might run away.

Children of Men quotes

  • Luke: [his last line] I had a sister...

  • Jasper: Everything is a mythical, cosmic battle between faith and chance.

    [offers Miriam a joint]

    Miriam: Maybe I shouldn't.

Jasper: You already did. Take another one. Now cough. What do you taste?

    Miriam: Strawberries!

Jasper: Strawberries? That's what it's called: Strawberry Cough!

    Kee: Wicked!

Jasper: So. You've got faith over here, right? And chance over there.

    Miriam: Like yin and yang.

    Jasper: Sort of.

    Miriam: Or Shiva and Shakti.

    Jasper: Lennon and McCartney!

Kee: [looking at pictures] Look, Julian and Theo.

Jasper: Yeah, there you go! Julian and Theo met among a million protestors in a rally by chance. But they were there because of what they believed in in the first place, their faith. They wanted to change the world. And their faith kept them together. But by chance, Dylan was born.

Kee: [picks up another photo] This is him?

Jasper: Yeah, that's him. He'd have been about your age. Magical child. Beautiful. Their faith put in praxis.

    Miriam: "Praxis"? What happened?

Jasper: Chance. He was their sweet little dream. He had little hands, little legs, little feet. Little lungs. And in 2008, along came the flu pandemic. And then, by chance, he was gone. You see, Theo's faith lost out to chance. So, why bother if life's going to make its own choices?

    Kee: Baby's got Theo's eyes.

    Jasper: Yeah.

Miriam: Oh, boy. That's terrible. But, you know, everything happens for a reason.

Jasper: That, I don't know. But Theo and Julian would always bring Dylan. He loved it here.
