When you comment on this movie, you should think outside of our current environment.
We usually only watch the movies made in the past few years after many years (not enough to eat or wear warm, more importantly, to worry about all day long and have time to watch movies?), I only watched it recently. Many people take the eyes of The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc., to conclude that the stunts at the time were also good. It is really a pity.
A movie about the fate, science, philosophy, and religion of the human universe. It just took a few shots of spaceships to talk about things. People didn't want to show those special effects at all, just because of plot needs and rigor, they spent energy on special effects.
The investment of more than 10 million yuan in Hollywood that year is comparable to those big productions in recent years (200x). I doubt whether there is still such a movie available today. Sponsors, producers, theaters, and box office are almost all deadly forces. Even if the civilization is like Europe and the United States, it is difficult for such a masterpiece to be born, let alone the place where there are three watches in total?
People’s moons can’t be all round, it’s just that most of the time they have to round ours

2001: A Space Odyssey quotes

  • HAL: I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you.

  • HAL: [His shutdown] I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a... fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Mr. Langley, and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you.

Dave Bowman: Yes, I'd like to hear it, HAL. Sing it for me.

    HAL: It's called "Daisy."

HAL: [sings while slowing down] Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.
