I missed its first show in cinema because the name doesn't sound appealing to me. And then I came across it recently in a boring sleepless flying night. I didn't concentrate at the beginning until Willy Wonka's awkward debut. The story is pretty simple, simple enough for a kid to learn to be a good person. I've heard a lot negative reviews on the Internet. But I really want to make one quotation from what Willy told Charlie when that skinny TV-game kid was arguing about the transporting machine. He said they couldn't understand it because they couldn't understand a fairtale.
It's just a fairtale, why take it so seriously?

I like it very much. It is suitable as an educational film for children. Depp's acting is as good as always. It is an audiovisual feast.
