The director's proficiency and the actors' superb acting skills are accurately reflected in "Birdman". "Birdman", or should be renamed "Birdman", tells the story of an overwhelming actor who played "Birdman" The story of desperate attempts on the stage to make a comeback. "Birdman" is a play in the play, Michael Keaton almost played himself (he was a Batman actor in the late eighties, such as the day in the sky), or a representative of many Hollywood actors. In the eyes of the audience, they were smash idols, but now they are gradually forgotten; in the eyes of critics, they are dolls who are famous by their faces, they have no real talents and are scorned; in their own eyes, they are contradictory : Both regret for the rapid retreat, but also look down on the popular fried chicken; both feel that what I do is "art", but also eager to be favored by critics. They cherish the memory of their past self, and feel that they should make a breakthrough. In the end, they can only use their lives to solve such a profound contradiction.
Of course, it's not fair to say that Michael Keaton is too angry. "Fade out" can be better to describe him than "passed out". An actor retires from the front desk after experiencing strong winds and waves. "It is no longer our arena" and concentrates on behind-the-scenes production and careers that are not closely related to fame and wealth. This is an acting skill of the return of the king. After understanding the true meaning of life, it is more than enough to get a golden figure, and even the Emma Stone who plays the role is extremely brilliant by him.
Let me talk about what I don’t like about this movie. Gonzalez is a revolutionary director. I sometimes feel that his thinking is too advanced or too dark for me to understand. In "Tong Tian Pagoda", he used the interlaced multi-thread narrative to let the audience see the emotion of the final enlightenment, and the deep affection in "Beautiful Cuo" and "21 Grams" made the audience feel immersive. But "Birdman" discards both of them, and is more like a satire written for insiders. Glory and humble belong to them, and obscurity does not belong to an audience like me.
I hope Gonzalez can make some more universal movies, or refocus the lens on his familiar Spanish world. I miss the Spanish beaches in his lens, the stowaways on the US-Mexico border, and the vigorous and calm narration.
