Percussion lovers passing by

The so-called "small solution" is not shit, nor is it what I want to explain, but the film makes me quite touched, and I want to talk about my own opinions.
First of all, I am fortunate that I have not embarked on the path of a professional drummer (I almost chose to study percussion), or the path of trying to become a drum master. I originally felt the hardships of this road. After watching this film, I felt that there were thorns. .
A scene in the film gave a poster that read: "If you don't have ability you wind up playing in a rock band." The translation in the film: "You don't work hard, the boss plays rock band." Jazz is indeed One of the most difficult music styles. It has very high requirements for coordination and hand speed. I was young and did not work hard enough. I could only follow the band (of course the style is not rock). Even the most basic jazz Swing couldn’t play smoothly. In other words, once the right hand swings up, the snare and kick drums are almost idle. Saying this paragraph, I mainly want to express that Jazz is really very, very difficult.

It's almost done about the drum, let's talk about the film.

The film has a large number of quick editing, the beginning and the end of the film, and the use of jazz throughout the whole film, very characteristic, but unfortunately I have a simple knowledge in this area, I still have something to say when analyzing the characters.

Andrew is the protagonist of the film, a young and promising drummer. He was a little silent at school, and it was difficult to integrate into the school circle. At the same time, his strong character runs through the entire film. As stated in the introduction, he has a tireless pursuit of "greatness".
I think the best presentation of Andrew’s character is in the family dinner scene. The family only pays attention to the juniors who are engaged in rugby and MUN, but ignores Andrew’s career of drumming, even though Andrew is in his own field than the other two brothers in their field. Much better. Andrew felt dissatisfied with the neglect and contempt of his family, and he began to attack his brother's career. I think this is a perfect display of his strong personality. I clearly know that I will become an excellent drum master, but currently he can’t even get the approval of his family. In contrast, the mediocre cousin in the popular field can get it. Everyone's attention and praise. At the same time, this scene also shows people's prejudice against this industry, which may also be the prejudice of most people against music practitioners.
MUN and rugby are not bad things, but too many people in the United States pay attention to these two, so that instrumental music is worthless in their eyes. In China, people pay attention to other things, but the prejudice is the same.
In addition to this plot, there are many places that reflect Andrew's character, such as every time he is hit, he will work hard to practice drums, such as breaking up with his girlfriend in order to practice drums. The breakup is really the most incomprehensible place for me. It reminds me of a series of films such as "Bird Watching", in which the characters gave up love and family for their own pursuit. But I always feel that there is a balance between the two. People who only care about their personal pursuits are unavoidably a little crazy. Such enthusiasm makes them great and outstanding, but such success is not worth the loss for me as an ordinary person. It doesn't make much sense.
After talking about Andrew, let's talk about Fletcher, the brightest character in the film.
If the film creates a chicken soup-style teacher, such as "Spring Wind and Rain", "Freelance Writer", "The Spring of the Cowherd Class", etc. may be more acceptable to most people, but the film has to create a cruel and swear word. Strong bald teacher. Insults and slaps are commonplace, and he hardly gives students the opportunity to correct their mistakes. I believe that no student likes him.
His devilish teaching program did have some success. For example, his former student Sean, but unfortunately Sean hanged himself a few years after leaving school. Sean's death made Fletcher very painful. He specially released Sean's work for the current students, and he was unsmiling and left tears on the spot. At this time, we saw a teacher who was full of love for students, and couldn't believe our eyes.
In addition, Fletcher's conversation with Andrew in the bar is also an expression of his true thoughts. He believes that masters are forced out, and only the most cruel means can create masters.
Fletcher's image can be said to be very three-dimensional and very real. It is not purely bad and certainly not completely good. He is just a person who pays everything for his own ideas.
Having said that, I only admire the characterization of Fletcher in the film. Personally, I completely deny Fletcher's concept.
When talking in a bar, Andrew asked in a rhetorical question: "For example...you forced it too hard, and the next Charlie Parker quit?"
I think Andrew's words are extremely reasonable, not every musical wizard has an extraordinary tolerance. Ability, the suicidal student Sean is one of the most powerful proofs.
But Fletcher was still immersed in the dream of making a master. He replied: "No, because the next Charlie Parker will never be discouraged."
But Charlie Parker, a music genius who will not be discouraged, really needs someone to force him. Can he become a master?

Disagree and disagree. One thing I do believe is that people like Andrew and Fletcher will always have a few people to become their confidants. They will fight for their goals and achieve great achievements, even if this During this period, almost everyone doubted them. Such people also exist in our lives, they will continue to follow their own path, and we will continue to not understand.

The PS movie is great, but one thing I think is unscientific. In order to increase the speed, drummers are generally very relaxed, not as hard as Andrew in the film. Only tens of thousands of relaxed and stable hits can make one's hand speed have a negligible increase. The death of exhaustion in the film only happens when you vent. The hand shape is bad and the strength is chaotic, which is not conducive to speed. The stability and improvement. However, I completely agree that death is the best way to show struggle!
