It was completed in the form of silhouettes passed from China to the West, the world's first animated feature story.
When I saw Princess Paribanu coming out of the bath, I felt the water from Huaqing Pool that had been coming out of a thousand calls. The graceful figure of the silhouette, with the reflection floating in the water, the princess and a friend elk whispered. And the prince who was peeping from the side, like a baby hidden in the womb, floated in the palm leaves with twinkling eyes.
Enchanting art.
Raw brilliance! It's a pity that in her later works, this brilliance disappeared completely, becoming stereotyped and obnoxious
This situation is the same as that after the Seven Dwarfs of Disney can no longer be surpassed.
1 Several well-known avant-garde animators collaborated with Lott Reinig to make this film, including Walter Ruttmann, Bertod Bartos and Karl Koch Koch. Therefore, female directors mainly make styling and stories, and many of the cloud-like special effects are produced by Lutman and the others. So later the female director never surpassed herself.
2 The story is based on the elements of "One Thousand and One Nights", especially "The Story of Prince Ahmed and the Fairy Paribano" in Andrew Lang's "The Blue Fairy Tale". Just a joke, if the title is Prince Ahmed-Aladdin's brother-in-law, perhaps it is more appropriate.
3 It is not yet known where the original German nitrate version of the film is. Although the original film is characterized by color toning, the photos provided before the restoration are all black and white. Archivists in Germany and the United Kingdom restored the film in 1998 and 1999 based on surviving nitrate photos, including using the Desmet method to restore the original color image.
4 Two homages to this movie can be seen in two Disney movies: Disney reproduced the duel of two kaleidoscopic wizards in "Sword in the Stone" in 1963 (the fourth act). And a character named Prince Ahmed made a cameo at the beginning of "Aladdin". The 72 changes of the wizard are actually a legacy of Chinese myths
PS
It has been 20 years since the restoration of the film appeared in 1999, and I still love it very much.
Zeller beautiful music
The war between African wizards and Chinese witches began, the Sino-African friendship.
The fourth act is Aladdin and the magic lamp.
Among Jiro, one is Andrew Lang, a literary master who provides fairy tales, and the other is Fritz Lang, the film director, who was inspired by him.
