Little fish has two meanings, one is the bottom of the marine food chain, insignificant creatures. Going with the flow, being trapped by the water, and dominated by higher-level creatures; the second is the heroine Tracy of the metaphorical movie, a woman who has taken drugs and was denied a bank loan and is struggling with her own bad life.
Fish live in water. The most special part of "Little Fish" is the deep underwater texture presented in the whole film. Human life is also like a fish divided into two layers above water and underwater. All the wind and sunshine on the water surface is Tracy's desire to get rid of the drug-taking life in the past and lead a normal life. Life is like a boat against the current, always not knowing when and where. Will be submerged by the tide and dive into the deep water. Life under the water is emotional, depressed, sad, and all negative emotions are like drowning people. The helplessness who can't get the loan because of the fraud record, the darkness in my heart dwells in my heart, and I don't know when it will swallow you.
A very special, psychedelic electronic music track often appears in the film. Whenever this music is played, the protagonist is usually trapped in negative emotions, like diving into the deep ocean. Shuttles underwater, desperately trying to live a normal life, but also walks on the spot.
You think you are normal, you have given up drugs, and you have started a new job and new life in the video store. You even want to take a loan to buy this small store and become a normal person on the water. But finally one day you find that your past has entangled you for your whole life. The bank will not approve your loan. Your boyfriend came back to you and asked you to start a drug trafficking business again. You finally couldn't bear it, sobbed and hugged yourself into a small one. A ball, looking at your mother with tears on her face, but she just looked at you from the door frame, "It is your life, not everyone else."
Cate is really suitable for playing such a fragile and nervous and proud role, whether it is Jasmine, Tracy, or Sheba, the beauty and sorrow of a woman like a plume of smoke. The light clouds cover the moon and the wind returns to the snow, her strength is like a transparent shell that breaks at the touch of a touch, and every tear when she cries is like falling on the bottom of your heart. The spine under the backlight, the pale and transparent face, the blue eyes like the sea, and the light swimming style diving into the water, all make people hold their breath to admire. If it weren't for the production of Ao Village, maybe her Oscar queen would come ten years earlier.
"The water is constantly rolling, flowing, and splashing."-Mishima Kiyuo, "The Sea of Plenty". Everyone in the film seems to live an extremely difficult life, long nights, embracing warmth, and being hit back to the original point time and time again by the waves of life. In the behind the scenes attached to the Blu-ray, the actor who played Tracy’s mother said: "Everyone is living in the consequences of their choices, and the restrictions of their lives." The corpse is on the beach; my brother lost a leg in a car accident; my mother takes care of Tracy, who is nearly 30 years old, tough and isolated.
At the end of the film, Tracy went to the beach with her boyfriend and brother. The sun was shining on their backs. She dived into the boundless deep ocean, which reminded me of the eternal saying at the end of "The great Gatsby": "We strive hard Moving forward, the small boat went retrograde, constantly being pushed back past by the waves."
