The director may be trying to compare the tall Doug to the current Trump, whose arrogant interests are paramount, in contrast to the Mexican ethnic group represented by the weak female protagonist.
But the film is really awkward. There are rules in the adult society, and the heroine's behavior itself has crossed the line, which constitutes an offense to other people.

This petty self-pity will not make me sympathize with the heroine anyway, it is more annoying
