I can really feel Atkinson's exquisite and delicate acting, mature and stable but also affectionate. If Sherlock is a grotesque talented IQ alone, maigret truly shows the ins and outs of the detective's solving the crime. There is no ups and downs of the plot, no brilliant reasoning for solving the case, all the case is like a squeaky cocoon, this kind of calm, smooth and gentle narrative style is also its charm. Maigret's hatred of the perpetrator, sympathy for the victim, and shelter for the innocent all tell us that he is a truly great detective. Our Mr. Bean interpreted him so closely and so perfectly.

Maigret's Dead Man quotes

  • [to the man who murdered Albert Rochain and who has just described him as "a little man - a nobody"]

Chief Inspector Jules Maigret: I want you to know that his name was Albert Rochain and that he had a wife and that they were trying to start a family. And for all his little bets and his little winnings, his life was more successful than yours, because *he* didn't end up like an animal in a cage, despised by everyone, with nothing to look forward to - except his execution.
