This kind of secret room one-man drama (or group drama) and time and space interlaced themes have always been my favorite, but after watching this one, I have to sigh that it is an unexpected masterpiece.

The beginning of the story did not tell the cause. In the first fifteen minutes, my unruly mind was "Another Dimensional Killing Array" or "Life and Death". Getting better after half an hour, Fletcher's words made Frank piece together the reasons why he was trapped here, and I also understood that this is not "The Man without a Surname" but "Source Code". After that, he began to fight with the AI subconsciously. After the second escape, the dream girl was left in the secret room. The scene was so beautiful, like Mal who was left in a deserted dream by Cobb.

This scene made me believe that Frank succeeded in the second escape. His subconscious mind was left in the secret room and watched him leave.

Since then, the ending is also like "Inception". Different people have different opinions. You can say that Frank did not come out. The tree is like the back of James and Philipa is a symbol of dreams; you can also say that Frank has come out. Dream girl told him that he had not come out. Don't know the real name, it means a new beginning.

And the last scene of the monitor scene discussed by the general public, as far as I understand it, is to commemorate the love between Frank and Howard (not). Artificial intelligence possesses self-thought and feelings and saves friends, but friends cannot save it, and eventually shut it down.

When Howard finished saying "we are friends", Frank couldn't bear to cut off the power quickly.

Prior to this, Frank asked Howard LSO the meaning of it, interspersed with the scene where his father was forced to survive by a life support device before he died, and then he took off the respirator to accept his death, exactly the same. The base was not supplied, power was insufficient, humans and AI were dying, Frank also took off his friend's breathing mask.

You keep me alive, but I have to kill you.

Of course, this understanding is based on the premise that I believe that the second escape was successful. If you explain it from another aspect, the understanding will be completely different. The monitor is like a spinning top, and I want to believe that it will stop eventually.

In addition, the stream of consciousness shots and the restrained and stripped soundtrack (I don’t understand the music genre, I can only describe it this way) add a lot of points to the whole movie, which is remarkable.

Infinity Chamber quotes

  • Fletcher: What's your favorite meal as a kid? First thing that comes to mind.

    Frank: My father made pancakes.

Fletcher: Think about that. Think about him. Think about the place. The smells, every detail. Can you see it?

    Frank: Yeah.

Fletcher: Now, everything stays the same. Same man, same smells, same moments, but... He's making waffles. The memory stays the same but the entry point is different. They're in the right house but they kicked down the wrong door. Man, I could really go for some god damn waffles right now.

  • Frank: I'm not really here.

    Gabby: No?

Frank: No. You're not here, none of us here.

Gabby: Ah, really? Well, that would explain my profit margins.
