Sometimes life is surprisingly similar to art

When I don’t know which movie to watch, I decide directly based on the poster. This is my usual way of selecting movies.
Tonight I was successfully attracted by the romantic, natural and warm posters of this movie. Let’s talk about this random decision tonight.

Zhenma is an interior designer, passionate and beautiful. Charlie is a maintenance worker, shy and low-key. In order to escape the hustle and bustle of London, the two moved to Normandy, France. There are vast grasslands and large trees with branches and leaves spreading freely. As their neighbor Martin, the narrator of the film, said, “Here, the art of life is valued.”

With their easy-going personality and professional ability, the Zhenma couple quickly integrated into the local life. From time to time, they are invited to eat and chat with their neighbors. As the freshness faded, Zhenma gradually felt lonely. Charlie didn't notice it. The husband still lives at home, immersed in his own world. From here, I clearly felt the distance between the two.

During a walk, Gemma fainted from an allergy after a wasp bite. The young law student Haywell passed by and saved her. An extramarital affair began. According to Martin, the narrator of this article, Haywell is incompetent and lazy. I am also curious why Zhenma would like this little fresh meat. The two people don't have a lot of soul communication. It is worth noting that there is a big castle in Xiao Xianrou's home. The elegant and retro decoration of the castle fits Gemma's professional taste very well. So this castle is actually a metaphor, implying Gemma's desire to exchange ideas. In addition, I think there is another point that Xiao Xianrou expresses love more than Zhenma's husband. He will tell Gemma directly that he loves her and he needs her.

In an intimate relationship, it is so satisfying to be able to feel needed.

Soon this abnormal love affair ended with Haywell's early letting go. Zhenma's husband also found that he was wearing a big green hat on his head. Her husband returned to London angrily. Two close men left themselves in a short period of time, which was a big blow to most women. Fortunately, Gemma is a woman who can afford to put it down. She has the ability to clean up mess. What God's intention made was that just as her life was getting better, the first love that had really hurt her appeared. This man has the most typical characteristics of a scumbag, duplicity and dual purpose.

From the last diary of Zhenma, it can be seen that Zhenma married her husband because of the hurt of this scumbag. Compared to the selfishness and ruthlessness of the scumbag, the kindness of her husband moved her even more. But just moved, not love.

At this point, the mystery in my heart is finally revealed. Why is this movie called "Madame Bovary"? Why did Zhenma still die in the end? How about the same ending as Madame Bovary?

Judging from the final ending of the film, Zhenma died of a mistake made by her husband and a scumbag. This hint actually reveals the real cause of Gemma's death, which is due to a woman's unrealistic fantasy of love. Even after several centuries, the weakness of women is still fatal.

Therefore, as Martin said, life is sometimes surprisingly similar to art.

The ending is very dramatic, and the heroine is too wrong.

French movies are as always erratic with their innocent and lovely style. I wanted to say that there is nothing to say about the plot. Martin looked forward to Gemma’s perspective. Just as we read Madame Bovary, she repeats the same path as Bovary step by step. Towards death, the director turned this ordinary woman and the plot a big turn here. The fireworks gave all fans of the original book and Martin an ear scratch in a timely manner, but fortunately, she was loved by everyone.
