The film embodies the pain, struggle and resistance of small people in the context of the big time. It cannot be said that Elser foresaw a terrible future. It cannot be said that Elser has great sentiments. This is just a personal choice. For freedom and a better life. The worse and worse living environment, the increasingly suppressed love by the power, made him have to choose to resist or compromise.
