A movie that I don’t know how to accurately comment, although I am quite sure of the actors’ acting skills and the director’s level of directing in my heart, I am a little disappointed with the storyline presented by the movie. So embarrassing, I don't know how to start this film review.

Dog Eat Dog (dog bite dog), directed by Paul Schrader, starring Nicolas Cage and Willem Dafoe, this lineup is absolutely reliable.
Paul Schrader has repeatedly won nominations for awards at major film festivals. The most famous is the classic "Taxi Driver" written by him in 1976. As one of the most respected directors in the United States, the film he directed Is to be the center of attention

Uncle Cage is an acting school. Although he has been performing bad movies for a long time, this does not affect his actor's true qualities. His strength is still there, but his ability to choose movies is mentally retarded. The film plays Troy, a cold-faced planner, filled with dissatisfaction with the American system

Willem Dafoe, acting school, can be competent for small roles in big productions, as well as large roles in small costs, with first-class acting skills. In the film, he plays Mad Dog, who goes his own way and has an extreme tendency to kill

In addition to the actors, the tone of the film is unique. There are three points worth paying attention
to. From the pink when Mad Dog comes on stage, to the blue picture after smoking marijuana, the impact and imagination are amazing. Through the picture, you can see through the inner world of Mad Dog.

In the second place, the appearance of Troy and the encounter of the three, the classic black and white tones, seem to be watching an old movie, with a sense of feeling. Troy is like a gang boss

In the third place, at the end of the movie, Troy hijacked the car of the old black couple and exchanged fire with the police. The scene was dark red, with strong meaning-Troy's dissatisfaction with the system, the abuse of law enforcement power by the American police, and the melodious hymn In, Troy was knocked down, and the black couple was killed by mistake...

Although the cast of the film is first-rate and the visual impact is excellent, the audience and professional film review websites do not seem to buy it. The freshness of rotten tomatoes is only 43%. Metascore only gives a score of 53. Satisfaction is not high. Why is this?

The reason is very simple, the plot is too simple-three criminals on bail, in order to make money, to collect debts for others, then the plot is too old-fashioned, Mad Dog killed the hostage by mistake -> Diesel shoots the stubborn perverted Mad Dog- >Diesel was killed by the police while shopping in the supermarket——>Troy kidnapped the old couple, exchanged fire with the police, and was killed. Three people, three personalities, one ending. A film with a streak and a plain bridge cannot satisfy the critical eyes of the audience.

Finally, let’s take a taste and talk about the meaning of the film. In simple terms, this is a crime-themed movie. Killing, eroticism, and violence enrich the whole movie. To go deeper, part of the bridges and dialogues designed by the director are obviously exposing (and possibly demonizing) some problems within the American police (such as abuse of power, deliberately targeting people of color, violent law enforcement... ). In layman's terms: Xiangzhuang's sword dance is intended for Peigong.

Director ★★★★☆ (imaginative, unique)
actor ★★☆☆☆ (Nicolas Cage and Willem Dafoe, technically superior)
Plot ★☆☆☆☆ (too single, loose)
visual effects ★★★★☆ ( The color is charming and fascinating)
Sound effects ★★★☆☆ (slightly dull, the ending song is very deep into the drama)

Recommended crowd: Cage fans

Dog Eat Dog quotes

  • El Greco: Good to see ya again. Here, count it. It's $5,000 dollars. You can pay me back later. You don't even have to thank me. Just don't go wastin' it on those other fools. The gig? Uh, it's a friend of mine. Armenian dude. Former friend, actually. Uh, used to be a deputy D.A. prosecuting drug cases. So he got sick of watching himself go poor while his clients went rich, so he switched sides. Buys himself a big ol' house in Brantlow, got a little puss on the side. He's a squirrely girl, but now he has a problem. He needs some money the wife don't know about. So, get this, he's setting up his former clients for rip-offs. You'd like him, he's your kind of guy, Troy. That'd be a monkey out of east Cleveland, calls himself Moon Man. They used to call him Balloon Head til he got so much money that now they just call him Guard. He likes to play the fool. He says to my friend, the Armenian, he says, "Hey Mr. Cracker." He talks like that, says, "Hey Mr. Cracker, if you're so smart and I'm so dumb, why I got $5,000,000 and you workin' for me?" He buys himself a house up in Rocky River. Big ol' gaudy thing, and it needs renovatin'. You know that part of Cleveland? He's got a 300-pound fool he calls a bouncer. Uh, he likes to drive a bimmer 7, but not in the hood. So he's got 4, 5 little junker cars. You know, switch 'em one place, one or the other, you know how they do that. But, this is where you come in, he don't keep anything worth shit up at the Rocky River house, so you gotta find where he keeps his stash. So you've got Diesel... No, no. Not Mad Dog. Ha ha ha. No, no, really? Shit. Like the old fudge puncher said, a man kills for the thing he loves. You keep him away from me. Those paranoid types make me scared.

  • Troy: Can you shut this baby up? No, you know how. Where's the thing you put in the fucking baby's mouth? What's it called?

    Mad Dog: Uh, dick?
